....It probably wasn't anyone under 30, since those older VW's have manual transmissions...

Sounds like the thieves made a clean getawhey.

Tillamook, when the vans left.

It shouldn't be too hard to spot the vehicles, as all of them are custom-painted orange with the "Tillamook" logo emblazoned on the sides.

Because thieves never cut vehicles up or re-paint them.

They're also frame-shortened and lowered, so cut-up would be the only way to hide them. TFA doesn't say the Ford pickup is painted like that, so they could drop the trailer, with the Vdubs, and still have a saleable F-350, prolly dually, for their take.

Good. Tillamook doesn't make cheese in Tillamook anymore but still pretend they do. The first step you see of the actual cheese in the Tillamook factory is it wrapped before it is boxed for shipping. The actual cheese gets made in eastern Oregon then some of it is shipped over to Tillamook. When Tillamook bought the Bandon Cheese company, a great little cheese maker in Bandon, Oregon, Tillamook promised they would let Bandon keep doing their thing with no interference because Bandon Cheese Company was a beloved little local company. First Tillamook cheese started making its way onto the shelves then it replace Bandon ice cream with Tillamook's crappy ice cream. Next, Bandon cheese stopped getting made in Bandon. After that Bandon cheese stopped getting made at all except for the crappy 1-pound brick that was just repackaged Tillamook cheese. Finally, the Bandon Cheese Company factory got shut down. Today, the site is just a dirt parking lot.

My point is that the Tillamook Cheese company is nothing but a bunch of lying whores. They deserve whatever they get, the assholes.

Manteca is kind of shiat hole of a town any hows... gateway to Yosemite, but a dried up ole bag of termite shacks, just waiting for the next big forest fire to sweep threw it and turn it all to ash...

I jusr cheddar to think about the ramifications of this they. If the police catch the perpetrators, it will be a gouda arrest. If the perps try to sell the vehicles abroad, I think the Swiss should be contacted first.

Uhhhh, not they, but "theft"

you really captured the delicate essence of punny comments with that one

Forbidden Doughnut, I'd agree, except they didn't need to know how to drive a manual transmission. All the vans were in a trailer, which was (nicely) still attached to a Ford F-350 truck! Those thieves must be thrilled at how easy it was to steal $300,000 worth of classic VW mini-vans, plus a trailer and truck!

Nice little video on their website -- Link

Looking at the cut-and-wrap room toward the end, I see they're wasting a lot of cheese with that offcut from the top of the 40 lb block after it's pushed through the harp. Company I work for sells production lines that eliminate most of the waste. I'll have to have a talk with our salesman... not sure how the economics works out with 40 lb blocks, usually cheesemakers start with 640 lb blocks with these lines.

So now we know which farker committed this heinous deed. Return the vans in good order with a written apology and we'll let you off lightly.

Fail to do so and we feed you into the Velveeta processor.

That "waste" goes into the shredder, then little packages at 30% higher price per pound.

rohar: That "waste" goes into the shredder, then little packages at 30% higher price per pound.

Yes, almost all of it gets shredded, but I'm kinda doubting that the economics of shredding the offcuts works out in the company's favor on a profitability basis. For one thing It's kind of a pain to deal with the scraps -- shredded products have certain specifications that need to be met, and this week's orders for shreds need to match up with this week's orders for blocks, and sometimes some shredded products preclude the use of offcuts from the chunk lines. Also our lines save labor costs due to automation, and I'm pretty sure that the portions are closer to the exact weight listed on the package, which can be a really big deal.

Manteca is a suburb of both Stockton and Modesto, that's all you really need to know about it.

/The high school mascot is probably "The Meth Dealer".

As a recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest, I was recently introduced to Tilamook (my girlfriend grew up here eating their cheese and gushed on and on about how good she remembered it being).

So, what's regional or local that's still worth getting?
