Fark that hospital for doing that to him! Oh wait, he was drinking a handle of vodka a day and the hospital kept him from the death he richly deserved? Fark that hospital for doing that to him!

People who over dramatize their medical stories is definitely one of my pet peeves, but looking at that picture of him I can almost believe it. Apparently drinking a ton of alcohol and not eating anything is bad for you. I'm surprised no one knew that before. Glad he could bring it to our attention.

If you're spending $870 a week on booze ... Thats way more than a big bottle of vodka a day. That's white powdery alcoholism money.

I'm sorry to hear that :( I know someone in their early 40s who has had it since he was born. I don't know how you can have it since birth, but the guy took himself off of the donor list. How bad of a drinking habit does it have to be to cause that?

Eh, it just depends. A single Hennessy Rare Paradis bottle will cost you $1,000 more or less.

That's only £100 a day on booze. Yes if your going for bottom shelf no brand booze then it's alot of money but two bottles of top shelf stuff will clear most of that easy. Add in some beer and booze for hangers on and $870 a week is easy to spend when you are an addict.

i accept the hangers on argument totally... But £100 is still 4 litres of Smirnoff Blue Label, or 3 bottles of Grey Goose.

Most alcoholics will polish off at least a litre of spirits per day plus other drinks. To be drunk 24/7 takes alot of intake and the reason why most alcoholics are not drunk more is purely money..

/to need a new liver at 25 means he is more than a typical alcoholic

The same thing happened to me last year...I felt like garbage for weeks, had a seizure and was rushed to the hospital with organ failure etc...I had to be in the hospital for about a month and had sugery.  Turns out over the years of drinking I developed pancreatitis! They say that I can never drink again now or it will put me right back in the hospital.
I haven't had a drink since September.  Wouldn't suck so bad if my girlfriend/love of my life didn't need to have a few cocktails every night.  I don't miss needing alcohol though, or the horrible shakes until having that first drink.

That happened to my friend in January. He still drinks. Just not as much.

You could have done worse. I knew a couple of people who died of alcoholism before they were 30. Also, although I'm sure you'll find this offensive, you need to kick the alky girlfriend to the curb. Even if she doesn't drag you back into drinking and kill you because WTF, misery loves company, alcoholics just become a farking drag to be around. It's tiresome when they're always drunk and babbling inanities. It's tiresome to clean up after their messes from drunken sloppiness and general irresponsibility, and by doing it, you enable them to continue being drunks and farking themselves up.

As much as I can be snarky and all, I went through a hardcore drinking habit for ten years, 3 of it drinking a fifth everyday and waking up to a 6 pack to calm my nerves. It's farking hell on earth, and I feel lucky as hell my health didn't cave in like his. Still had the shakes, acid diarrhea, vomiting for days on end, audio hallucinations, kidney stones, all that fun jazz. Coming from a former alc, I hope he recovers, because (1). he does not look good at all. He looks like someone tattooed his body with a highlighter, (2). the whole hepo-renal failure, (3). He looks like he hasn't ate in quite a while, which makes the binge drinking that much worse.
Hate their music, but yeah, I can sympathize, definite. Though from the looks of it, he took it to a further extreme than I did, which is hard for me to imagine. He's going to have long lasting health problems from here, regardless.

Sage advise. I did the same and wound up finding better in the process. I didn't have any obvious health issues, but I was polishing off most of a fifth every night in a few hours, passing out, getting up at 7am and acing my classes then pulling an 8 hour shift at work. My father was a highly functioning alcoholic and I'm thankful that I got a glimpse of the road I was heading down so I quit. Wish it was as easy as quitting smoking was. 5 months without a smoke and 2 weeks without a drink.

I'm usually not serious on fark, but I feel like I need to be serious now. She might be the love of your life, but she loves booze more than she loves you. End the relationship with her, or odds are good that you'll be drinking again within a year, and be dead by 40.

I've always felt lucky that I can only take a few shots of whiskey/gin/etc. before it's "lampshade on the head at a party" time. I can't stand the taste, smell or buzz of wine and I've never had any desire to do heroin or crack. The few times I snorted cocaine back in the 80's, I hated it. I smoke pot once in a while and will have a beer or three at a ballgame or concert, but I'm lucky I never went full on alcoholic or druggie.

Mostly agree about "MTV punk" but I think Fat Lip is a great song.

Sure that was also keeping the rest of his liquor cabinet stocked for all his hangers on. However, if that was just booze for him, it would be miraculous that he's not dead already.
