It was pretty much a lock after they swept all the medals in the Olympics.

I bet the people in North Korea who don't believe it are vilified as conspiracy theorist idiots.

Any evidence that this actually was run in Best Korea, or just something somebody made just for the laughs?

This. Also, I wonder if North Korea is showing this article to their people showing how we believe...oh never mind.

I seriously doubt that any of those are still alive.

Problem is the video isn't translated.  I kind of wish it was.

But I have no problem believing it.  Didn't Kim Jong Il send out a report that he hit 18 holes-in-one during a golf outing?

In celebration of Best Korean team's unbeaten, untied record coupled with unprecedented performance of Kim Jong Il, having scored all the points for Best Korea while also playing flawlessly as the team goalie, recording 116 straight saves, Best Korea plans on firing World Cup into the East Sea.

Word on Reddit is that the "newscaster" has a Seoul-based accent, giving it away (to folks who notice these things) as a Worst Korean satire.

In the opening seconds you can hear the newscaster say something like "Wordu Cupu". I doubt North Koreans would use the English transliteration, what with that being the language of the American Imperialist pig dogs.

It was posted like a week ago; I guess some warcraft/starcraft players got bored and did a parody... speaking of which I got a really good laugh watching TopGun iL.....  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nKuoNhihh4

Well it's not like the team can tell you any different if they didn't make it to the finals (and win in the world's most amazingly one sided blowout ever)... It tends to be fairly hard to write or say anything to others if your dead.

From the comments in TFA:

Alistair Coleman · The Open University
OK, here's what's wrong with this report:
- North Koreans already know they're not in the World Cup, and they're watching it on state TV, albeit with a delay of several days
- The voiceover is in a South Korean accent
- The voiceover uses South Korean slang ("Hwighting") not used in the North
- The dubbing is awful and doesn't even match up
- The editing isn't in North Korean news style (They don't do western style "packages")
Apart from that, spot on.

That's the thing about North Korea - if you don't believe the propaganda, they kill you.  So there isn't anyone in the country who would say they didn't believe it out loud.  It's a remarkably effective tool to shut people up.

This video is fake, but the official fake videos are swallowed hook, line, and sinker because the citizens are obligated to swallow it.  You could be starving in the countryside and if Kim Jong Un tells you that you have a full tummy, then you have a full tummy.

I didn't watch the vid on first pass. So I guess this is western propaganda mocking NK propaganda and I was perusing too fast to realize it. OMG, the irony is KILLING me.

True it says "spoof", but then the story reads like it was really broadcasted in Worst Korea.  I was also confused for a bit.

The problem is that North Korea is sitting on a nexus of naturally occurring Poe's Law. It's actually the largest Poe's Law nexus outside of the state of Kentucky.

well thats obviously a lie.... He didn't need any saves because the opponent never had the ball 110% possession time.

Maybe, just maybe, they're telling the truth, and the western media is spoofing us.

We're through the looking glass ...
