It means, if atheists don't believe in his god, and don't believe in his god created the universe, and yet the universe exists, then obviously atheists are the ones with a cognitive dissonance problem.

Yeah.  I know.  Irony, thy name is Gohmert.

Can we just start referring to him as Gohmert Pyle?

"Nobody plus nothing equals somebody who created everything".

Is that somehow better?

Gohmert delivered his final point to a chorus of applause as he concluded, "You couldn't get everything unless there was something that was the creator of everything and that's the Lord we know."

Oh, look, it's that same self-defeating "everything has to have been created by something" argument for "God" that every other idiot has trotted out as "logical" "proof" of their deity's existence.

Many highly educated scientists are actively trying to find out what really happened at the time of the big bang.  But you've got a book that's been translated several times that on one line says God did it and that's good enough for you?

People who feel the need to prove the existence of god lack faith.

Faith is believing without evidence.

Also, faith is stupid.

2014-07-12 06:16:01 PM
So his point is that since we exist, something must have created us. Therefore, that something is God.

My question is, if everything must be created by something, then what created God?

I think Louie Gohmert is proof that god exists.  A man with no intellect, no charisma, no knowledge of the world, and arrogant, prideful ignorance is getting paid six figures.  And he got that job by being elected to it by other people.

There's no mundane explanation for that.

What do mortals need with 'God'?

Besides, it's unpossible, Homer already pulled the lodged crayon out of his brain and proved the inexistance of god and Flanders confirmed it.

He starts with the assumption that the universe is a creation, and logically a creation has a creator.

But there is no proof that what exists was created. It is existence, so we could I suppose posit an "exister." But that would just mean anything that exists and sheds no light.

Even if you accept the notion that there is a creator, there is no evidence whatsoever to tie that creator to the god of bible stories.

People who can't do algebra should probably give up on trying to comprehend infinity and omnipresence and the like.

This is really lazy too; he just stole it from one of The Family's mottos: "Jesus Plus Nothing Equals Everything."

Weak minds demand easy shelter from hard questions. That may well never change no matter how many facts are discovered or who is selling the "answers".

And Gohmert's Christian audience didn't laugh him off the stage; they applauded his nonsense. Why are so many Christians so farking stupid? Once upon a time Christianity gave us Chartres cathedral, Bach's hymns, and a good chunk of Europe's artistic heritage. Now it gives us Duck Dynasty.

You know, I enjoy reading about the big bang, inflationary theory, and theoretical physics. It is a really fascinating topic that we still have so much to learn about, and then I see comments like this which are just so simple-minded and ignorant.

If a higher power created a universe filled with a hundred billion galaxies, each containing a hundred billion planets, ergo that means that God is a petty vicious white American Southern Baptist who flies into a rage if a 14-year old boy in Arkansas has a nocturnal emission.

I'd like to congratulate Mr. Gohmert on being able to reiterate one of the initial arguments of a 13 year old's philosophy class. Quite impressive, for a man of his staggering intellect.

The thing is, does it surprise anyone?
