anfrind: SonOfSpam: ...and completely indistinguishable by the naked eye from a minimoon (a term I just made up, just like some dickhead made up the sensationalist term "supermoon").The term "supermoon" refers to a full moon at perigee (when the moon is closest to the Earth). The opposite of a perigee moon is an apogee moon. There is no relationship between full moon, new moon, etc. and perigee/apogee, but since both cycles complete relatively quickly, coincidences are not rare.Source: Science@NASA
Sin_City_Superhero: It's the second supermoon of the year...The next dates for supermoon spotting will be Aug. 10 and Sept. 9If these things just happen all the time, what's so farkin' "super" about them?
Gene Masseth Jr.: Been nothing but total cloud cover here since Thursday night, and it's raining right now and supposed to continue all day so I guess I won't be seeing this thing in person this weekend. Goddamn Mother Nature always ruining cool shiat.
eyemarten: Ever notice that you never see the Supermoon and the Moon together....I think that they might be the same planet!
