It is to Germany's credit that it has not needed a penalty shoot-out to progress, beating all comers inside 90 minutes en route to the final.

It's like that match never happened, isn't it?

I disagree with the article saying Argentina would do better than Germany if it came to penalties since they went to penalties against the Netherlands.

Germans are PK Nazis and train for them extensively. Argentina had a penalty shootout against a Netherlands team where two players refused to take a kick. Netherlands seemed to lack confidence, but Germany will be ready. Plus I think Neuer is a better goalie. If it goes to PK's, my money is on the Germans.

Enlightened Liberal: Germans are PK Nazis

And several over kinds of Nazis too if you go back around 65 years..

Football is a fertility festival. Eleven sperm trying to get into the egg. I feel sorry for the goalkeeper.

Argentina are fully capable of scoring the first goal.  And if they score the first goal, they are well on their way to hoisting the Cup.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm not betting a large amount of money on it happening, but I would not be at all surprised by it happening.

Argentina has no chance.

Argentina had possibly the easiest route to the final that I've seen in quite some time.

Germany has a 95% success rate converting penalties. That's only one miss in 20 since the start of the world cup.

Ummm, really?  Aside from the group stages they've had to play two 120 minute games in the KO stages.  Germany played one and (effectively) had 65 minutes of the semi-final off.

Yes, really.  There's a demonstrable difference in the difficulty of competition between Germany's route and Argentina's route.

5 Reasons why Americans don't care about soccer .....

1. You can have a man advantage and lose
2. You can have a man advantage and settle for a tie
3. You can lose and still advance in the Playoffs
4. You can win a game with penalty kicks while having no shots on goal
5. It's more rigged than the NBA

Mr. Lickalickalicka: 5 Reasons why Americans don't care about soccer .....

1. You can have a man advantage and lose

Well, the Denver Broncos had a winning record and even won a playoff game without a QB.

2. You can have a man advantage and settle for a tie

If you have a man advantage and can't win it... well, you suck.

3. You can lose and still advance in the Playoffs

Yeah, NOPE. You can't lose in the elimination phase and advance.

/I know, I shouldn't feed them
