That article does a horrible job of making its own point.  Boehner is now suing Obama for exactly what he was demanding Obama do in 2013, which I guess is what you get when you compromise with Republicans.

If this is true (and I'm much too lazy today to read/parse it myself), I can't wait for the epic lulz which are sure to follow.

2014-07-10 08:49:47 PM
As soon as Boehner had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of 'The Congressional Record' and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by flames.

2014-07-10 08:49:54 PM
So the end goal here, John, is to make sure you look like a total and complete retard to even your staunchest supporters?

Boehner, in a letter to Obama, even admitted that the employer mandate "cannot be implemented within the current time frame." The party has referred to the provision as a "jobs killer" and has sought its repeal.

Because that's what you're doing. Very successfully, and at no cost to the Democrats as well.

I'm not sure, but the lawsuit is a political stunt with no merit whatsoever, so it will get laughed out of court either way.

"Republicans did not immediately question the legality of the postponement. Instead, the GOP called on Obama to also delay the individual mandate"

So now they've decided that postponement was illegal, does that make them guilty of conspiracy or incitement to commit a further crime?

2014-07-10 08:58:32 PM
He's suing the administration so that they will delay all aspects of the law equally, rather than giving favourable treatment to businesses at the expense of individuals.

I'm not sure how the interpretation got so twisted; maybe the author of the article was trying to be funny?

Let's go with both!  Maybe we can sneak in treason in the form of economic terrorism while we're at it?

"The authority has been used to postpone the application of new legislation on a number of prior occasions across Administrations," Mark J. Mazur, the Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, wrote in a letter to Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) and pointed to occasions when the Bush administration cited the authority to delay implementation of laws.

IOKIYAR.

If he sincerely believes that Obamacare will kill a ton of jobs, then forcing Obama to complete the implementation in time for November elections makes sense - the electorate sees the full, terrible effect of the Obama healthcare plan and all vote Republican.

Alternatively, the court rules he doesn't have standing and he plays the victim card.

Maybe that's his master plan. The populace will finally oust the weepy, alcoholic cheeto, and he'll be free to live his life as he sees most fit. You know, out cold in the gutter with a brown-bagged nip of absinthe.

The Boehner quote is from 2013.  The current derp is that delaying anything at all violated the bill as passed by congress and so constitutes a dictatorial usurpation of power the likes of which the galaxy has never seen.

I guess this is the best they've got, as presidenting while black isn't illegal.

No, but I have been to Italy where a porn star was a serving and very popular member of their lower house.

And my step dad responded to me saying "I'm not sure it's good politics to file articles of impeachment." with "Yeah, that's pointless, but that's why Boehner's SUING HIS ASS."

I asked him why Boehner was suing him, as I had not actually heard about this.  "What *isn't* he suing him for?  As long as it makes America wake up and realize he's ruining the country, it's a win."

"I'll just enjoy my coffee over here, in another state."

It was my understanding that you could only sue if you had incurred damages.  Is it now the official American citizens have been hurt because Obamacare wasn't put into full effect fast enough?

Would that not mean that those dozens of attempts to repeal Obamacare were actually dozens of attempts to hurt their own constituents?

2014-07-10 09:20:22 PM
He wants the parts that will hurt people and the economy the most to be implemented before the election, countering why Obama panicked and delayed in the first place.

2014-07-10 09:20:28 PM
Ok, putting aside the fact that Bohner is a goddam idiot, does the suit have standing? Does the President have the authority to implement the law in the way that he did?

Personally, I think he does but I'm no law-talking person.

Step 1: Republicans put roadblocks in place so the ACA fails
Step 2: ACA does not fail but the employee mandate is delayed because of those roadblocks
Step 3: Lawsuit

There is also a separation of powers issue I would think when one branch uses another branch to fark with a third branch...

So Obama's delaying the application of this piece of shiat legislation until after the mid term elections in order to minimize damage to the the democrats that voted for this turd. Got it.
