Hey everbuddy,

Just woked up and walked down to the internet for Caturday.  Got to read through about 3 more pages before I can join the chin-wagging without sounding like I need to go eat in the living room with the kids.

In the meantime, have a guncat...

Nobody loves a rat-killing cat more than me. I love when a domesticated animal does a job, instead of simply being a pet. However, two cats isn't going to do shiat for an entire apt building full of rats.

I mentioned last week about making and selling a Caturday t-shirt if anyone is interested. I spoke to Sherpa who suggested using the Caturday tag as a design. Here is the design - let me know if you are interested and/or want one.  If you don't like the design, feel free to suggest what you would like.  Thanks!

I would really like to get one.  If I had $$$.  And a job to earn more.  And a brain that could remember things longer than 4 seconds so that I could KEEP the dam job.  And a... etc, etc, etc, it's Caturday and I don't feel like listening to a rant made up entirely of excuses, let alone does anyone else.

So all I will say is, reserve one for me (size XLarge, it's mostly distended liver) and I will gladly pay you someday for a T-shirt... someday.

exvaxman: Oh, a funny one I heard last night, I am a fan of BBC quiz and comedy shows. On a "News Quiz" story Andy Hamilton (one of my favorite comedians) was reading a newspaper clip. Apparently in anticipation of a new kitten being adopted, a "cat door" was installed so it could go outside when it wanted. The door opened up by a magnet attached to a collar.  The idea was immediatly given up when the kitten became attached to the fridge and could not break free.

I cringed in sympathy for the kitteh while ROFLMAOing at the same time.  Everyone i the library thinks... whatever 'cause they are even nuttier and noisier than I was just now!

While researching for the invention exchange, found out most auto pet doors require a RFID collar be worn by the pet to allow the door to work.  Figured it would be a real nice single-point failure item, so tried to come up with a way for the door sensor to recognize the pet in question based on pheromones, pet sound analysis, or specific urine recognition hardware (yes, I seriously considered making a door lock you have to pee on to unlock).  Couldn't think of anything in 5 minutes or less, so just went with the 'garage door within a garage door' schtick.

The radio show was from the 90's. I just got it from ***net a few days ago. ( local ISP does not allow torrents).

I have no doubt that the newer cat doors are far superior than the old ones:)
I recall one from that era being pushed open by a racoon who snuggled up to a woman who thought it was her cat.

Looong week. For today,
crow202.org

Thursday, I saw a black cat near another condo building while walking to the bus stop. It got up and acted scared when I looked at it, but it didn't run and hide. It didn't want to come near me. Of course, I have a secret weapon in my work bag: A 3oz can of canned food. The cat got very interested when I brought the can out, and attacked the food with great relish. It was still too skittish to accept me being closer than 2 feet away.

I've seen this cat near the same place before--so it might be that this is someone's outside cat without a collar, or it might be that someone moved out recently and abandoned the cat. I put another can of food in my work bag, and will be taking the same route to work for the forseeable future so I can try to get this cat used to me and figure out whether it's a stray or is someone's. If the former, I've already got 1 black cat, so one more will fit in just fine....

Oh, a huge laugh for me. There is a Goodwill on the way to our Shelter. There was a "timed" dog feeder there last night for $5. I suggested it to my teenager for the cats. He looked at me and said that if Gideon (our big cat who lacks a brain) didnn't kill me he would help. It was left there.

sherpa18: Hai everbuddy!

Apologies to all for not calling/checking in earlier - I could not get to sleep last night trying to wind down from the drive, and then woke up later than planned with a sore back, arms, shoulders and neck from wrestling my vehicle for over nine hours. (For those of you who don't know all the details, I am driving a 17' truck - fully packed, I ended up taking furniture items I intended to discard - and dragging an auto transport trailer with my car on it behind).

This truck is a beast and I was hesitant to get back on the road in a sub-par condition - plus I had hoped to meet up with QJ at some point, but what with his doctor's appointment I would have ended up trying to drive straight through and that was not going to happen.

yobbery suggested I stay another day and feel better and try to relax before moving on, and after much BS'ing back and forth, I realized it was probably the right thing to do. I feel much better now, and will be able to move on tomorrow morning confident that I can handle the next part of my trip.

Thanks to all for caring about me, I and will try harder to keep up!

PS - I just wanna give a huge shout out to yobbery and his lovely wife AllMyKidsHaveFur - they are wonderful, welcoming and generous hosts, and have taken good care of your resident wandering sherpa, making me welcome in their home  :o)

However, whether or not they actually have any cats was in question for awhile. Stay tuned.....

Just take good care of yourself.  We all wish you luck and success when you get to where you are going in life.

And keep a written log of any humorous or downright humiliating embarrasments that occur while out on the open road of Americar.  We wish to laugh at them and use them for caption ideas when you post them  ;-{)

CAT-LIKE TYPING DETECTED: Oh, oh, oh..fergot, in above post..!

Along the lines of finances improving when m'garnishment goes away..but not quite...

Six times a year we have a full Plant shut-down..everything off, doors closed, last one out turn the lights off..  At those times, there is a lousy shift setup fer the 12-hour overnites..  ie - Work the full 12-hour, nite afore shut-down..go home at 8am..then be back at *4pm* (instead of 8pm)..work til midnight then close shop..  Three times we get it..three times our counterpart shift gets it..

Consider; I drive ~45 min to/from werk every day..so that 8 hours is really around 6 1/2 fer me..  These shifts really suck..  =P

As so happens, the next one is on my birthday..for the Labor Day shut-down..oh, nonononono..  *shakes head*

I'm puttin' those 8 hours in as Vacation time and sleepin' in, iff'n I can..  Thing is, I'm not certain I have 8 hours left..  Pretty sure I chose to take 12 hours..then was allowed to use 12 fer an illness-absence, so as not to lose pay..and was given 12 hours when my dear friend, Randy, committed suicide and I just could *not* handle anything, much less work (again, so as to not lose pay)..

So..that there is 36 of my 40 Vacation hours..but I'm not really certain of all that and timeframes and whatnot..so I call work t'find my Vacation balance..again, cuz I want to take those 8 d*mn hours off on my B-Day..  =)

Get head of HR on phone and ask what I have left..she pulls up my records, gets to the appropriate page and informs me that I have 68 Vacation hours left to use this year..

*BLINKBLINKBLINK!*

I ask her to double-check..then triple-check..  Nope, 68 hours it is..

This means two rather surprising things..   1) however they chose to compensate me fer what I listed above, they only hit my Vacay hours fer ONE 12-hour day..and,  2) I have two weeks Vacation..?!?!?    No-one ever mentioned this..!  I've only been with the company fer a bit over two years..I'd've not expected a 2nd week until five years employed. ...

You shouldn't worry too much. Do you have fans to help circulate the air? If not...get some. And just make sure they have plenty of fresh water to drink. :D Welcome to Caturday.....

Duuuuh!  I shoulda thought of that.  I've even seen NOVA episodes where they show FR apps used.  An FR system would also act as a descriminator circuit to keep people and hostile animals out (but I repeat myself).

Oh, and this is one of the RARE times I get accused of over-thinking.  I am normally chastised for UNDER-thinking.

kk..

Mistress Bast is being far too kind, today..  But I'm no complaining..  =)

re - $$ probs..  Called m'father..  I'd done the maths and figgered I could squeak by on $100 extra in the acc't..  This is what I asked for..  Note:  in real-life I talk as much as my posts here..  Looooong story first..point later..

My father hates this..

..so, I opened my call thusly..  "I know you don't like stories, so here's the point..details provided upon request.."

Keeping things short..call was great, he sent $$, all is gunna be just fine..  *huge sigh*   But, for those interested, the details..

I asked fer a $100 loan..dad asked why and I fully explained..he thought it all reasonable and said 'yes'..  ..and more..

He bumped it to $200 (is already in my PayPal acc't) and said "..forget the 'loan' part..  I don't need it back.."..

This is where the conversation get fun/interesting..

(btw - I post this stuff, as well as work matters, here because I have too many co-workers and family members on FB..  A lot of this would provoke a shiat-storm of Sharknado proportions, were I to toss it out in public..  Thank you ALL fer being my stress-vent relief..  =D  )

So, he tells me he's sending $200 as a buffer, and he doesn't need it back..

Says he has more money than he knows what to do with..

Follows that up by saying "I don't have all that much money..  I just have a lousy imagination.."  *LOL*   (my father has an *astounding* imagination..)

Follows *that* up by saying "It's your inheritance, anyways..doesn't bother me.."

I lurve my father..  =D

But then, things take a diff turn..

He mentions my Grandfather's pocket watch..  After my parents divorce, I held this fer a decade+..and then it was returned to Dad..  He says "You know that watch is your's, yes..?  It will be fixed as soon as I can find someone local and reliable to do the work.."

The pocket watch is a 'square' platinum-cased timepiece..  28-jewel movement..  Prolly worth $30,000+ , unfixed, today..  Crystal needs replacing and watch needs re-calibrating..prolly cost around $2500 to do..  This thing is *beautiful*..  I wish I had a pic..  And is inscribed..  I want it back..and it will never be sold..ever, ever.

I also brought up that I still had a Belarus wrist-watch from his father (currently selling fer around $500)..and he said he'd fergotten about that one, and was glad it was in my care..

Aaaaaaaaaand, at this point, I'm rambling..

Need to take a break and do stuffs, so I's drinkies less..

Right now, things be most good..be back soonish..

*purrrrrrr*
