I mentioned last week about making and selling a Caturday t-shirt if anyone is interested. I spoke to Sherpa who suggested using the Caturday tag as a design. Here is the design - let me know if you are interested and/or want one.  If you don't like the design, feel free to suggest what you would like.  Thanks!

I like..

Tryin' to think of a diff presentation..like big CD logo on back, small left-breast *something* on front..but, dunno..  I just like the simplicity of what's pictured there..

Any way you (someone) can think of t'werk in a small "FARK.com" logo with that..?  Assuming Drew doesn't mind..?  Iff'n we're gunna wear the things out in the wild, may as well advertise and mebbe increase our clowder..  =D

..and now, off to catch up on the thread..will bbp (be back posting) a bit laters..!

Time for me to sign for today; Jimmy behaved himself & agreed to come up from finnished (sic) basement where Ginger eats & overnights due to his diabetes. Mostly to keep him out of others' chow.
Was several-pg article on feline diabetes in Aug issue of CatWatch  which came today. Copied issue for chorusmate who's owned by 7-8 & our veterinarian, who was in chorus for a while. But then she bought the practise & hasn't really time to sing any more. Our vet's owned by 5, she moved to condo right next door to clinic bldg 1.5 yrs ago.                          ....
See ya in daylit daylight once more, wish sherpa18 safe drive to the CDKs. Room to type Hyvaa  Ilta![i.imgur.com image 500x421]No longer recall who fetched this, is in my imgur gallery where ID info saves not. Kinda think our voyaging sherpa18 may be most logical suspect.

kk, I'm back..miss me..?  *chuckle*

Offering my best wishes to  sherpa when he heads back out on the road, later this morn'..  ..and a hearty "Well done, Good Sir..!" to  yobbery fer tying him down to get a much-needed extra day o'rest..  =)

Now, t'get this outt'a the way and back to posting, here be updates..  =P

After m'post of 5:58pm yesterday, I pretty much went right t'bed/crashed (..sorry  RWDA..post could'a been a bit more coherent but that's what 25 hours awake and the better part of a 12-pack'll do t'one..  At least it was readable and close to my intent..  =P  )..

I shut down 'puter..moved Orange from lap to bed..got up and got undressed fer sleep..during which time Orange jumped off bed and headed out of room..I crawled 'tween the sheets and was insta-out..

Some hours later, I wake fer bathroom calling..and Orange is curled up aside me (yay!)..he barely stirs when I get out of/into bed..I fall right back to sleep..

@ ~3:30am I awaken..Orange is still there (yay, again!)..9+ hours sleep and I feel pretty durned good, fer a change..dress, fire up laptop and do my normal thing and catching up and such..during this time, Orange gets up and re-occupies my lap fer a good half-hour..is back sleeping on bed, now..looking just as good as he did when I got home yesterday morn'..

Will be watching Orange closely..as closely as I can, considerin' how I work..can't keep him penned in one room (unless he's *really* bad off)..and he IS gunna finally get his first visit, soon as able..my next three paychecks will be good ones..a 4-day, then 3-day, then 4-day again ('member, I work 12-hour days..  =)  )..and, sometime in there, my garnishment should finally be satisfied and I get that d*mn 10% off-the-top-of-my-gross-pay BACK..!  There will be much cheering and celebrating when I see that pay-stub..already looking fer a place fer me t'treat us to the first dinner out (that wasn't McD's) in more'n five years..  =D

Prime concerns now are choosing a Vet fer Orange and keeping finances in proper control..and, o'course, getting thru this week..  =/   Just check bank acc't and is standing at $76 and change..now take out the $45 I'll be needin' to use fer werk on Mon/Tues/Wed..and, yeah..  I got $31 fer the week..  I've always managed to be creative enuff in the past..but this is gunna be a real tough nut t'crack..

Anywho..  I should be here, off'n'on, thru this afternoon's race..then sleep and back late t'nite/early t'morrow..

Great Caturday mornin' t'those of you just waking up..!!

CAT-LIKE TYPING DETECTED:

Prime concerns now are choosing a Vet fer Orange and ...

Please keep us up to date.
My sweet Percy had something similar (at least some of it sounds similar?) happen some years ago. I got home one evening and he could not use his back legs, but did not seem to be in pain at all.

In his case, it turned out he had a lesion on his spine. I am still not completely sure I understood what the whole issue
was....the whole experience is still a blur, as I was a complete basket case while it was transpiring.

Thing is, he did not demonstrate the rebound that you described for Sir Orange. So I hope hope hope that it is not the same thing.

Ended up going into some debt getting Percy treatment -- I don't recall everything that was done -- I DO remember that the MRI was probably one of the most expensive components >:(  -- but he was OK for a while after that.

His passing is still something I mourn even after these years. It is a strange and, to me, heartbreaking story that I won't bore you with here.

ANYWAY, I hope Sir Orange was just experiencing some weird spasm or something.....fingers and paws crossed.

A readily available (but grainy) pic of my boy:

Oh, oh, oh..fergot, in above post..!

Along the lines of finances improving when m'garnishment goes away..but not quite...

Six times a year we have a full Plant shut-down..everything off, doors closed, last one out turn the lights off..  At those times, there is a lousy shift setup fer the 12-hour overnites..  ie - Work the full 12-hour, nite afore shut-down..go home at 8am..then be back at *4pm* (instead of 8pm)..work til midnight then close shop..  Three times we get it..three times our counterpart shift gets it..

Consider; I drive ~45 min to/from werk every day..so that 8 hours is really around 6 1/2 fer me..  These shifts really suck..  =P

As so happens, the next one is on my birthday..for the Labor Day shut-down..oh, nonononono..  *shakes head*

I'm puttin' those 8 hours in as Vacation time and sleepin' in, iff'n I can..  Thing is, I'm not certain I have 8 hours left..  Pretty sure I chose to take 12 hours..then was allowed to use 12 fer an illness-absence, so as not to lose pay..and was given 12 hours when my dear friend, Randy, committed suicide and I just could *not* handle anything, much less work (again, so as to not lose pay)..

So..that there is 36 of my 40 Vacation hours..but I'm not really certain of all that and timeframes and whatnot..so I call work t'find my Vacation balance..again, cuz I want to take those 8 d*mn hours off on my B-Day..  =)

Get head of HR on phone and ask what I have left..she pulls up my records, gets to the appropriate page and informs me that I have 68 Vacation hours left to use this year..

*BLINKBLINKBLINK!*

I ask her to double-check..then triple-check..  Nope, 68 hours it is..

This means two rather surprising things..   1) however they chose to compensate me fer what I listed above, they only hit my Vacay hours fer ONE 12-hour day..and,  2) I have two weeks Vacation..?!?!?    No-one ever mentioned this..!  I've only been with the company fer a bit over two years..I'd've not expected a 2nd week until five years employed..that's pretty standard..  *re-blink*

I have the 8 hours I want..*plus* five full 12-hour days I can (must..'use or lose'..) take over the rest o'the year..oh my, oh my..

And I came home to a healthier kitty..

Bast be praised..  The tiny paycheck is an obstacle to overcome..everything else, this past morn', has been wonderfully pleasant..  =D

And now, a current pic of Orange..  Normally, I make my bed within ten or so min of getting up (yes..yes..a man who makes his bed..  =P   Many, many years ago, when HM and I were still a 'couple,'  we were fighting 'bout whatever..and her grandmother (a strong, commanding woman whom she loves and idolizes) called..  During the course of that call, HM complained to Gramma that I 'never do anything'..and Grandma said (basically)  "I rather doubt that..I'm sure you can come up with *one* thing he does.."  HM replied with what she prolly thought was the most piddlin' little thing she could think of, as a sarcastic reply and said "Well, he makes the bed every morning.."  to which Grandma replied "Dear, 99 out of 100 men don't even do that.  You've found yourself a Keeper..")..

Long-winded parenthetical aside, bed remains unmade and will stay so, as long as Orange wishes it to be..  =)

sherpa18: *followup to my previous post*

Meanwhile, I really was looking forward to being able to pet a cat again during my visit - however, up until a little while ago, I was feeling seriously unloved and was developing a complex. The one and only Biscuit wants nothing to do with me (although I did get a few blurry pics of him from a distance).[i415.photobucket.com image 598x480]
Mia keeps her distance, but I got a couple of pics of her as well. Wolf is the only one I have managed to actually touch, and it felt so good even after he basically flipped me off (ask yobbery if you don't believe me, the damn cat really did flip me off in no uncertain terms).

And as far as I'm concerned, Nate is a figment of their imagination, I'm convinced he does not exist  :o)

It's way too late for me to try and upload the pics I did get, I gotta go get some sleep and try and be ready to hit the road bright and early. I hope to be back soon with further updates (and pics).

♥ sherpa

At least you know Wolf cares enough to flip you the bird. Awwwww! My cats would definitely be pulling a Nate if you were to show up here. You'd think I kept a litterbox in the my bathroom/guest bathroom as an insult to visiting hoomins as it is the "just in case box" and it is right in front of the toilet. Noooo.... it's "just in case" for the CATS.

I'm glad you're on your way to better things. I'd yell "check in when you can!" but you already know that. We're all up in your business over here, because we care. ♥

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with Program flea control. Been using Advantage but not thrilled with the results. Program is made by the same guys who make Capstar, comes in shots and suspensions. Done all the research I can online, now just want to see if anybody has any experience.

Alternatively, if there's another one you trust, I'd like to hear it. Time for my cats to visit vet.

The video of Crusoe and his brother Oakley (the 'fire dogs') has been cracking me up for 2 weeks now. They did a part two...and again, Oakley (dog in the fire truck) stole the show.  Crusoe is the star but Oakley......and yes, I am still laughing.

I so could see my tubby dogs doing that.  If I didn't die in the process of trying to put the firetruck on Dyson.

Hey, evverbudy. Sorry I've been in and out. Still packing, still passing farking kidney stones, still trying to keep the kids from destroying the place while I clean it out.

I'm sorry to hear about Buddy, happy to finally hear from Sherpa, and fark cancer in general.

Fell in love with some kitties over the 4th. My buddy from college had eight kittens on his farm, and I just about fell in love with a little calico that just fell asleep on my lap. TWICE. It was so hard to drive away without her, but my lease won't allow it and I don't want to subject such a tiny thing to a cross country trip.

I so wish I could get a good pic out the window of my Lair. The end of the tarp covered picnic table that serves as a handy hiding place for all manner of critters is right outside it, as is one of the AC compressor/engine thingies, a support post for the upstairs balcony and a couple of little trees. In other words - it is a feral kitten playground and the Children of Hisss! are all over it. They hide when they hear me typing or glance over and see movement through the screen, but once I stop, they're all back within a minute. Later today or this early evening, I'll see if I can get a pic regardless. They are all just too adorable when they're leaping all over like that. I saw one eyeballing my screen and thought "Garfield car window clingie toy pose! DO EET!" but then it looked beyond the screen and saw me, so it was a no-go. I'll have to back up a bit. I'm also wondering if I can get the webcam on my laptop to record out the window and put it somewhere online for me to grab bits of later. That lappie is RIGHT by that window anyway, all I'd have to do is learn how to use the webcam and then turn it around.

Learning to use the webcam will be the hard part for me, btw. You've seen what passes for picture taking skills around here. It's far from pretty.

Here, has a pretty kitteh

Thanks dude.

Also, to Caturday as a whole, I'd like to give my cats a bath. One will definitely let me do it. The other will kill me in my sleep.

I was wondering if I could drug her with Benadryl to get the job done.

Also, behavior question. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, I find one or both of my cats sleeping in my leg/hip. When I wake, and turn over on my back, she'll rise up and turn at the same time, never leaving my body.

This morning, I was slightly awake, and I felt a paw reach out, touch me. And then again. Then she climbed up. She was testing to see if I would move.

Is this normal cat behavior?

I walked out on the deck and noticed Alice laying under the japanese maple.  Then I noticed what she was playing with.  I ran down the steps as fast as my gimpy leg would let me and snatched it away.  The only injury I could find was the little mark by its eye, so playtime must have been just beginning.  I had to run back up the steps and through the house (dodging my mom who freaked out about bringing a "wild" animal into the house) and out the front to release the little guy in the woods out front while Alice was still in the back.  Poor thing had a tick on its ear but I couldn't get it off, and figured I'd better let him go before he died of fright.

I've done the steaks-outta-roast thang meself. It's especially satisfying if you can catch a roast they've marked down.
Had fun convincing little old single ladies (of both sexes) that buying a big damn roast was actually a very good use of their grocery money/food stamps...
"No really...if you do *this*, you'll get about 7 boneless, perfect-size steaks out of this roast and no waste."

There's something very uplifting about having an older, wiser person look at you with respect and say "That's a very good idea!"

I did goof the first time I tried this though...cut the meat with rather than across the grain.
Oops.
Ended up cutting it even smaller to make strips for stir-fry, so it worked out OK.
