Just look at it as you are paying for the education you received as a child.

2014-07-10 11:47:22 AM
That's a wonderful idea! We'll just let people pay taxes for stuff they want to pay taxes for. Brilliant!

Guess what, dumbass...we ALL have to pay taxes for stuff we don't want to pay for.

So, move to one of those "over 55" communities.

School taxes are what we pay to make sure the next generation isn't full of illiterate f*cking idiots.

Let the bears pay the bear tax, I pay the Homer tax.

I cannot attend a teacher's parent association meeting, I have no say in school affairs, I am completely barred. This is taxation without representation.

I'm pretty sure you could run for the school board if you wanted real representation.

What he needs to do is declare himself a corporation then he could claim that paying for other kids to learn sex ed violates his corporations religious beliefs.

I wonder what is soo hard to grasp with  the idea of societal benefit.  The Federal retiree is complaining about government spending does make it little more comical. Taxes may be grossly misspent, but the overall effect is a country with infrastructure  that educates the population so they may pay taxes that keeps the retiree receiving government payments far beyond what he may have contributed in tax. The are a few countries in the world with no tax system in place and no functioning  government, most people call them sh*tholes that almost every person living there wants to leave. See South Park Fatbeard for an example

I don't like school taxes eithers. May as well send my dog to med school as try to teach these thickskulled little droolers anything. But we all make sacrifices.

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: School taxes are what we pay to make sure the next generation isn't full of illiterate f*cking idiots.

OH SO MUCH THIS.

Really, fight school levies, vote them down, and then complain how dumb and uneducated kids today are.

Oh, Arturo, Prince of Irony.

2014-07-10 01:07:39 PM
Hey guess what Depends-load-for-brains, you get a break on school and property taxes once you're retired, but still contribute to ensure that your area's infrastructure (including schools) operate at a high enough standard so your house is still worth something when you decide to sell.

If you're too stupid to realize that, then maybe you should consider taking an evening Civics 101 class.  There's one right across the freeway from your neighborhood.  Dress in all-black and cross the freeway to get there.

The logical extension of Hobby Lobby.

Wonder how many heads will asplode if an organization started objecting to paying for the DoD.

I had one child and, as far as I'm concerned, I paid for his education all the way to high school.

What about the retirees and other childless folks who paid school taxes while this guy's kid was in school?

I've never used the fire department. Why should I have to pay taxes because *your* house caught fire?

MasterAdkins: Just look at it as you are paying for the education you received as a child.

I look at it like I'm paying for the pleasure of not having children. And that's a bargain at any price.

As a childless tax payer (the wife and I decided it wasn't for us), I don't mind paying my share.  What does piss me off is getting my taxes raised every year just so they can build some new facility or unnecessary item.

Think of it as paying to train the nursing home attendants who'll be caring for your drooling, wrinkly, liver-spotted carcass as you mark time until death finally claims you.

What is a 'federal' retiree?  Was he a gov't worker?  I don't understand the distinction.

/it was going to be covered in 12 grade PIG
//but then some old people voted down the school budget increase

Why don't you complain about all forms of regressive taxation, gramps. Then your argument wouldn't be selfish and retarded.

I'm also pretty sure he gets a vote for the school board, possibly the school budget, and can attend and speak at however many school board meetings he wants, so I'm not sure where he thinks his representation is lacking.

Please stop spending my Tax dollars on wars. And border security, no more taxes for border security. And drug enforcement.

Starting now.

Let's get rid of BOTH of them, and let nature take it's course.

...wait can we still leave old people in the wild like they used to? Because I'd be down with that.

2014-07-10 04:03:42 PM
Why does it cost less to send a child to private school than what is spent on each public school student?

2014-07-10 04:03:46 PM
I don't like paying for war, it's against my religious beliefs, and I personally have never been invaded by a foreign country so I don't see why we need all these soldiers.

2014-07-10 04:04:19 PM
wait - does subby actually think his taxes are paying for my social security?

Fark you, breeder.

I am sure my taxes are helping to pay for schools.  I guess in the big picture that's a good thing, but fark you - I have no kids.  I am not a burden on society in that way and by the same token, my non-existent kids will never contribute to society.

I'm actually probably going to die before I collect any social security.

So enjoy all the taxes and shiat I've paid over the years.

As a federal retiree, I'm trying to make ends meet but find it a hardship. I will never understand why retirees who are no longer parents should pay school taxes. I had one child and, as far as I'm concerned, I paid for his education all the way to high school.

Oh, as long as YOU think you're off the hook, I guess that's fine by us...

I cannot attend a teacher's parent association meeting, I have no say in school affairs, I am completely barred.

Try wearing pants next time.

This is taxation without representation.

No, it isn't at all.

Who wants to tell this guy that the money he paid in taxes when his kid was in school doesn't come close to equaling what it  ACTUALLY cost? And while you're at it, will you tell him that his parents' tax dollars were wasted on the "education" he thinks he got?

They built in 200+ unit Senior Housing Center next door.
They exempted the developer and management from paying any property taxes for the school districts, because seniors don't need school.

Course, those of us, senior and not, living next door don't get such a tax break. The school districts are by far the largest part of the tax bill.

Besides they lied as promised and have kids living in the Two Bedroom One Bedroom with a Den with a closet units.

squegeebooo: What is a 'federal' retiree?  Was he a gov't worker?  I don't understand the distinction.

Well, government worker could apply to a huge number of people working at all levels of government. Federal retiree means they were a civil servant working for, you guessed it, the federal government.

Don't some states allow for Old Folks communities with drastically lower property taxes to accommodate people who feel this way?

Yes, he would have been a federal employee, which makes the editorial even more absurd.

wildlifer: Why does it cost less to send a child to private school than what is spent on each public school student?

The biggest reason, is you don't have to deal with special needs kids.  Public school needs to accomodate every person 5-18(ish), private schools can pick and choose, and toss out (or not take in) the poor performers, trouble makers and kids with disabilities.

What about the literate f*cking idiots.  Or educated idiots as some people call them.

I love hearing stories about straight A college students who think Hitler was a rock and roll band, don't you?

My property values are extremely high compared to most of the country. Our school district is also one of the top rated.
I'm pretty sure it's a complete coincidence.

The man proabably doesn't beleive his own in tripe, or just needs a bit of help understanding how property taxes helped him, help society and community, helps home values at al.  But instead let's mock him and wish for his death instead.

Good lookin' out guys.

You're the bastion of compassion.

because private schools can just kick out kids who are problematic thus lowering their costs.

This.  And This.

I can't belive there are people who are so near-sighted as to miss the whole point.  Look Gramps, maybe you only raised one kid, and don't want to pay for more than that -- but unless you moved to a deserted island right after his graduation, and are totally and completely 100% self-sufficient and don't take ANYTHING from society, you have to pay your share.
It's called civilization.
