Which is just too bad, because it would have released so much tension...

I lived in a housing co-op for part of college, a literal communist/libertarian mashup where there are like three hard and fast rules total.

One of those rules was "don't throw anything off the roof (you moron)".

That's how farking bad an idea this is... the people that thought nothing about turning our unsealed roof into a giant swimming pool with some sandbags and a garden hose even know it's a bad plan to do that kind of shiat anywhere in the vicinity of a city street.

Always a killjoy in the works... We had a 3 story building with an almost entirely unused alley behind it, and after Halloween one year, I wanted to drop the jack o'lanterns we'd made. My manager wouldn't let me, even though I insisted that I was going to clean every last bit up.

On a related note, I can tell you that a body falling from 6 stories and landing on the sidewalk is REALLY easy to mistake for the garbage truck.

A piano would be farking awesome.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

That being said, destroying a piano seems a lot more like violence against art then art itself.

Pffft. Top Gear did it the best way. Off a building the same height. And it started up afterwards as well:

WTF is an anti-social behaviour officer?  Can he give you a ticket, or toss you in the gaol?

Help me, Great Britain.  OK - forget the "Great" part.  Just help with this stupid, stupid, stupid idea.  Who the hell came up with that?

The dumb biatch who uttered this statement is the anti-social suspect of the week.

correct.  there is beauty in destruction and violence. it starts as a piano - capable of making art - and from the act of destroying it, it THEN becomes art.

Fun, schmun. The only "safe" way to do this is to get a tuning hammer and turn down the tension on all the strings before dropping - a piano is under tons of tension and if you drop one with the strings still tight it's anybody's guess where all that wood and iron are going to fly off to. Do you want to get hit by a flying piano wire?

Yeah so...  yeah, uhhh....
If everyone is there together watching the "experiment" together then isn't that totally and completely fully "social behavior" and not the "anti" part at all in any way whatsoever?

Also, dropping a piano off a building that high still only has a "dropzone" of like... a 50 foot radius  maybeon an  insanely windy day.  So back the crowd off to a safe distance like, wtf?

you NEVER throw things off the roof. I had to hide in the ventilation system of a shopping mall because the MORONS with me thought it would be fun to throw shingles off the roof while smoking a hooka.

Eh, I don't think it's art. It's not like the post-drop piano is then exhibited as sculpture, and the act is so brief, discrete, and lacking in requiring any special talent or detailed planning that it doesn't qualify as being more than an action or activity.

Calling this art is like calling a demolition derby art, or calling a monster truck rally art.
