luckily old people are addicted to their cell phones that's the only reason the supreme court ruled to protect them from illegal search.

Trying to imagine living in the alternate universe where McCain was a two-term president. On the plus side, slightly increased migration from Central America wouldn't even make the news as it would pale next to the five wars of aggression we'd be mired in. Almost feel sorry for the paranoid old codger. Did he learn nothing from his horrible experiences as a POW? No empathy or anything?

Don't be silly. That would never happen -- the stress would have killed him midway through his first term, and Sarah Palin would be President.

I sense... a direction change on the horizon. Something eerie, almost like things are starting to be set up for an attack. Possibly moving from the "just kick them all out now" to the "look at the poor conditions these immigrants suffer" in a effort to stir discord about immigration reform.

I am guessing the tack will be that Obama has to follow the  William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 and he is doing a piss-poor job of it because look at what the children have to endure in these facilities that are not properly managed by the Administration, where are all of the tax dollars going if not to these facilities?

I'm pretty sure McCain's Jitterbug doesn't have that feature.

He lost an election to a black guy 30 years his junior after choosing a deranged lunatic as his running mate and selling out all of his principles as a moderate to make inroads with the fringe elements of the GOP.

That would drive anyone nuts.

Ronald Reagan and John McCain are why we should think about implementing a maximum age in politics.

As long as McCain's been in Washington, there is no earthly way this is the first time he's been asked to surrender his phone. Especially where it involves health information (as I'm sure there are treatment facilities there), children, or detention facilities of any kind, this is the rule. This is more like "Old man yells for cameras".

As far as gagging him/staff (keeping them separated) - at least make some flunky or PR flak available (I'm betting they did, and McCain wanted unfiltered info). If Congress really wanted (or wants) to investigate, I'm sure Issa or Gowdy (or RANDPAUL or whoever on the Senate side) would be happy to issue subpoenas for every single scrap of wood-pulp that ever absorbed ink, and accounting for every electron that ever passed through or by anywhere within or around a facility of the type, and you can gin up whatever kind of controversy you want out of that.

Yelling at a random guard is a form of comprehensive immigration reform.

Rich, privileged old white fark. When do the people that elected him figure out that he's too crazy now to continue in this line of work?

Or are they okay with his two-faced ideals and poker-playing meeting etiquette?

I can guarantee you that he's been places like the Boeing plant in Az. When my FIL and MIL worked there, they had trouble getting phones they could take to work, since phones with a camera were banned(It's the plant where they build Apaches). That has since changed, but McCain would have had to surrender his phone back when it was still in place. What a farking prick he's turned into.

We could require them to pass basic cognitive measures on a regular basis to make sure they're of sound mind while legislating. Heh, who the hell am I kidding?

When I visit John McCain's senate offices I have to give up my cell phone.  What is he complaining about?  Doesn't like his own standards applied to him when he visits somewhere else, eh?

And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

Everything's under control
Bow tie daddy don't you blow your top
Cuz' you think you're getting too old

Just try to do no thinking
Just go on with your drinking
Just have your fun you old son of a gun
And drive home in your Lincoln

Yeah, but she would have quit within a year or so. She quit the governorship of Alaska when it was pointed out that there were actual duties that had to be performed personally by her as an elected official. She pretty much said as much at the time.

And for a little bit of BSAB-ness, let's also call out Robert Byrd & Ted Kennedy, who both should have retired before dying, (as McCain needs to)

Oh he learned something, he learned that if captured the first thing you do is announce to your captors that your dad is the CINC of the Pacfic fleet, McCain has always recieved special treatment, going back to not flunking out of the Naval Academy. He just wants to continue his special treatment, he only wants congresscritters to have this ability.

I am not surprised. They don't want their staff harrassed by people like McCain and the other issue is the staff are likely to have confidential information about people that they cannot discuss so they don't what politicians and other in there asking questions to those people.

It reads like these are the standard rules for all visitors to the site and that all McCain has to do to get an exemption is to contact the facility in advance to arrange for his special treatment.
