(SanDiegoUnionTribune)   Remember the fire that almost burned down Stone Brewing along with a good chunk of San Diego's north county? Yeah, some dumbass kid started it   (utsandiego.com) divider line 27

Nope. But it makes sense. I absolutely DETEST people who don't know what they're doing with flame. If you can't keep your fires under control, at least do the world a favor and keep them small and in your kitchen. A few flare ups on the stove top never hurt anyone.

Oh, I believe it.

One of my best friends' sons was arrested with one of his little buddies a couple years ago, after starting a fire in the same area. Dumbass kids--they were 14, and thought it was just funny that they were being hauled off in the back of a police car.

Probably I should send this to him and say "Not so funny now, huh?"

"No further information about the suspect will be released because of his or her age"

I understand playing it safe until the facts are in, but what are the odds that the arsonist is female?  10 to 1?  100 to 1?  10^10 to 1?

Dude and their fireboners man. I don't get it. I think the foundational moment in our man v. lady evolutionary history can be traced back to dudes seeing fire and getting raging hard-ons while the chickathropithecus was going all, 'Careful now.'

Friends of mine almost lost the whole house they were renting because one of their dumbass roomies left deep-fry oil on the stove. It's still kind of a legend amongst the crowd almost ten years later.

Stone Brewery is really nice, IMHO. I was there earlier this year and thought they had a gorgeous restaurant/garden thingee going on. Great beer too.

That was my freshman year of college.

My roommate left a big pot of oil on the stove and went into his room to play games and forgot about it.

The fire didn't really spread past the kitchen but all of my stuff was badly smoke damaged.

CSB:

When I was a kid I was fascinated with fire. I was generally very careful, but fire is a tricksy biatch. When we moved to Nebraska we had a "burn barrel". I was in heaven. Never again did my parents have to ask me to take out the trash. One day I was goofing around with the screen of the top, as usual, when the wind swirls in and *boom* the back yard is on fire. In a panic I grab a hose which was too short, but just sufficient to put out what was left. After spending a frantic half hour trying to use leaves to cover the area, I stepped back to where my younger brother was standing and took a look at my handiwork. I turned to my brother with my eyebrow raised, and he looked back and nodded without speaking, "yep, you're farked". I was not allowed to burn trash( or sit down) for a while after that. ;p

No need to be sad...they ALMOST burned down...evacuated & all that jazz...far as I know they didn't sustain any damage, but the damn fire was like right across the street from them at one point.

Man the southwest is so farked that I'm surprised areas don't burst into flames from the damn sun rising, people starting their cars, or someone sneezing.

For punishment, the kid should have his own personal legal drinking age raised to 31.  26 with good behavior.

There was loss, due to heat and power loss.  I can't remember which batches, but beer is pretty temperature sensitive (well...the yeast is...)

Maybe, depending on distributor and retailer. It's unclear to me if the mention of the 14th refers to the release to distributors, or the shelf date. It may only be regional at that point; it's not like it's FedExed overnight everywhere in the nation. The official HopCon on the 23rd doesn't have to coincide with shelf availability; it only has to coincide with SDCC.
