And great for diabetics!

It has a massive glucose hit so unless you're an endurance athlete white milk would be much better.

But most people don't need to "refuel" after a workout, most people don't work out anywhere near hard enough to need anything after besides a shower and a glass of water.

It's all a huge marketing thing and it's been really quite effective.

I tried this, but I found that the chocolate milk in my bicycle thermos didn't hold up so well around mile 10.

If I have a large glass of milk, chocolate or otherwise, there will be a large explosion--and not of research.

You gave up too early. Keep it for 50 miles and you have semi-sweet cottage cheese!

Do you mean the twits that do 5 reps then spend 5 minutes texting without getting off the machine?

I noticed that some people in Russia would drink kefir (fermented milk drink) after working out or playing soccer. I thought it seemed gross, but maybe they were on to something

There's a fairly well-known strength coach (Mark Rippetoe) who recommends that anyone trying to gain size and muscle mass drink up to a gallon of whole milk per day.

There's a difference between a sports drink (consumed during workout) and a recovery drink (consumed post-workout).

GOMAD (Gallon of Milk a Day) is supposed to be more for beginners because a lot of peopel who start lifting are worried about shredding their abs and don't get enough calories.

Yeah I wish I was a bit closer to being a musclebound meathead.  I'm still trying to get rid of the last 8 lbs of fat and then put on 30 pounds of muscle

It does taste damn good after a long bike ride, but it sits next to the beer in the fridge which is much more tempting.

Chocolate milk is a great recovery drink after any activity that requires more than a few hours of constant exercise - marathons, doubles, tris or beyond.  Lifting doesn't require recovery.  Besides lifting weights is only to supplement athletics.  Lifting for the sake of lifting is worthless narcissistic BS that serves no purpose, like having a shiny hammer and thinking that makes you a good carpenter.

16 oz tap water + 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt substitute (aka potassium) with a squeeze of lemon.I eat enough salt during the day. 500 mg to a gram of mg, after workingout, is good to relax muscles/be careful not to take too much potassium as it can cause heart arrhythmia or no rhythm, in extreme cases

YOU DID THIS JUST FOR ME, DIDN'T YOU?

Seriously... I was just in yet another beer thread lamenting the lack of chocolate milk threads, and BAM! You hit me with a chocolate milk thread!

Someone was listening. It's like the Fark Faerie put something under my pillow...I will always choose chocolate milk over beer. Every time. Of course, I may actually choose water from a dog's bowl over beer, too. I really don't like beer.

THIS

When I was training for a long distance race chocolate milk was great post workout for anything over 10 miles, but if you're running 3 miles don't drink friggin chocolate milk afterwards.

Also don't stretch before your workout.

You talking cortisol or joint issues?

I think the first is BS, the second is like any activity. Depends on how you do it.

Also great for when someone goes back in time and changes the past and you're the only one who notices the temporal change.

My roommate in college was a string-bean in high school.  Then, in his early 20s, he drank a ton of chocolate milk with peanut butter and protein mix and creatine blended together while dead lifting and squatting and bench pressing every other day.  The guy put on a ton of weight in a couple of years, at least some of it muscle.

I'm not recommending it for everyone, but if you are a high-school aged string bean ...
