In fact the burglar having that from other robberies isn't all that far fetched.

A MP of a govrnment wouldn't have a reason to hide 200 k worth of stuff from the police. It isn't that much that he would have trouble explaining all of it.

So he lied about his wealth right before an election and the tax authorities are now investigating him. That would be the reason.

A corrupt politician, now there's a novelty.

I like his fellow party members trying to say that the money might not be all his.
Is that better? That he's holding a lot of money for his friends? Don't think they thought that one all the way through.
