Mean Gene:  The Gobbledy Gooker in the locker room just one hour away from his moment of destiny.
Gobbledy Gooker : Well you know they said it was my last ride man! Yesterday when I finished hanging and banging. When I jumped in the egg man. As I went thru the intersection. As I headed for the mountains, some of the nonbelievers in the gym said, "See ya later Gobbledy Gooker , man! This is your last ride." It ate me alive brothers. When I felt the fury as I ripped, as I tore this shell, as I headed for the sunset man, I looked down brothers, and as the sun beamed off the gold in my eyes, I realized that sooner or later, you gotta live and die and you gotta face the truth. Because when I think about what you and I have to do man. What I have to do is nothing. All I have to do is merely break that shell man. But shell, you've gotta face the truth brother. In its purest form man. The purest truth there is man. The training, saying your prayers, eating the vitamins. And to beat me man, You've got to beat every little Gobbledy Gookeriac, every little Gobbledy Gookerster in the world. Everyone that plays it straight. All the ones that don't take any shortcuts brother. And they usually say "If the dirty air don't get you, the politicians will." But in this case. It's going to be Gobbledy Gookermania. And the reason it's going to get you man, it's the purest form of the truth there is. And I can't wait to see you go down at the feet of Gobbledy Gookermania in front of 16,000 plus in the Hartford Civic Center. What you gonna do  when the real truth, the 24 inch wings and drumsticks  run wild on you? Wait..what?!? Who the hell is this guy, The Undertaker that's debuting..yeah, like that'll put a lot of butts in seats.

What happened to just telling kids to nut up?

Unless it had Lady Gaga inside, that is.

Congratulations Nanny States on pussifying an entire generation.

/In 'Merica we would have put the whole school on lockdown until after the bomb squad blew the thing up.

Article notes that one parent's kids were in tears.  I wonder if other kids were upset.  I also wonder if that parent is raising a couple of wussies or if they were stupid enough to let their little kids watch Alien.

/I'd piss my trousers too if I was 5 and I thought a face hugger might burst out

There's something terribly wrong with the way these kids are being socialized and educated if this evokes fear and tears instead of curiosity and "OMG MAYBE IT'S A DINOSAUR" levels of wonder.

This is such a non-story. And it's sad to see Farkers commenting on it like it means something.

Put something new and unexplained in front of people of any age, something that even seems to have Authority baffled. Some folks react in excitement. Some in interest. Some in skepticism. Some in fear.

Welcome to every time in every place in the history of the entire world ever.

Wouldn't the point where it went wrong be say, about 30 years ago, when Generation  X learned how to parent and teach? It seems like the way the boomers created GenX with messages of apathy and fear is at fault.

What kinds of pussies are afraid of an egg? The thing could be 300 meters long; why the hell would it be scary? It's still a farking egg!

2014-07-09 04:57:36 PM
I once found what appeared to be a GIANT egg on the side of my house.  I wish I could find that farking picture.  But I'm at work...

It was about 3x the size of my hand.  The kids were initially fooled when I told them it was a dinosaur egg.

As it turns out, it was just a big mushroom.  A really BIG mushroom.

In tears about what?? Something the parents told them? The article never even hints at what scared the kids or why people are hysterical. It's an egg, not a gun or a child molester.

To be fair, in ANY movie or TV show that you've seen, has anything good come out of a giant egg?

Sure, but if it had been the parents who accidentally scared the children they would have laughed themselves silly.

"AHAHA! Remember that time when you were a baby and we gave you a bath with your cousin, and she tried to pull your weenie off? AHAHA! You were crying so hard!" LOL

Man, teachers don't get any kind of slack for stuff like that.

None of these kids ever watched The Flintstones?

2014-07-09 07:59:51 PM
It's the curse of an overly litigious society.  One or two kids are unsure how to react to a new thing so they cry, the go-to thing if you're five years old.  The rest of the kids are interested and having fun but the parents of the unsure kids complain and it's just easier for the school to fold instead of fighting it so everyone loses out.

It sounds like the school were actually trying to do something interesting that would engage imagination and encourage critical thinking skills.  Shame a minority of ridiculous parents ruined it for the majority.
