Besides Subby's headline?

I don't understand this headline and/or how I'm supposed to feel about the article, so here's an album cover for you:

I was expecting something funny. I'm a little disappointed.

What's wrong with the headline?  The Flat Stanley thing is well known, the team announced a Flat Salty take-off on it, and subby was letting FARKERS know about it so they submit rude photos.

/Sometimes I wonder about you people--does everything have to be spelled out?

Da fuq is a flat stanley? Some sort of deviant sex act?

This thread will certainly separate those who've become parents in the last 25 years from those who have not.

Thank you for explaining that Flat Stanley is well known, because I wouldn't have known that if you hadn't. Also, what is up with your screen name? I don't get it.

I would go with those who have become parents 25+ years ago from those who did not.

/never heard of Flat Stanley

///would've just called it a general social media tool to drive engagement throughout the offseason at zero cost to the team

I blame the approver more then the submitter for this one.

I like the idea of Flat Stanley, kids really get excited, and it's easier to ship than some poor fool's garden gnome.

I'd actually only heard of Flat Daddy, which is the one the military uses for families when their servicemember is deployed. But that's a full-sized image. So it seemed to be pretty expensive as something to print out.

I like the idea too, I'm just saying what exactly it is (as someone who is planning on how to create fan engagement over an offseason soon).

A "flat stanley" is a male crossdresser with A-cups.

While the promotion is dumb, the photo that I saw (would deslide, but can't on phone) was dumb, I feel like this could be a great SportsCenter commercial.

Thank you. I knew exactly what the headline meant, but have been staring at it trying to figure out what was "wrong" with it that everyone was dumping on subby.

In the real world, Flat Stanley would be dead.

There's a car coming. You guys should get out of the road...

CSB: Back when I was in High School, I got a nice new camera for Xmas. We went to pick up someone from the airport and were early, so we stopped outside the airport to kill some time. I noticed how cool it was that the incoming jets were lining up perfectly straight over the road we were on. I stepped out to take some pics. Long story short, if you look at the series of pics I took, that pickup gets closer and closer and closer and closer... :-)

They had to give it a hook, though. Calling it a general social media tool to drive engagement throughout the offseason at zero cost to the team doesn't get people engaged in the same way.

I figured as much, it just brought back memories... That place is crazy insane, want to check out that beach some day, see if I can get decapitated by a jet or something.

According to the tubes, the letter-writing thing only started about 20 years ago, so yeah, it's easy to understand why a good number of Farkers have no idea what Flat Stanley is.

It's pretty nuts for sure.  We went during the off-season, so there weren't a ton of planes that came and went.  We did see an AirFrance 747 land and got to stand behind a number of Airbus A320's take off.  We weren't there to see the 747 take off.  The A320's are only twin engine jets but holy cow do they pack a punch.  The beach itself is somewhat small and on a steep slope so it was easy to lose footing and fall.  I can't imagine what it would be like behind the 747 or 777 with 4 engines.

Funny thing is, the guard rail that is behind the run way is painted with big letters, "Jet blast, do not stand here", which is basically just a big attraction meaning, "Stand here for the biggest effect".  There are some ugly youtube videos of people being thrown across the street and face planting on the pavement from the larger jets.

Years ago, I was driving out to a zoo in Phx that was next to Luke AFB. We got to see an F-16 leave the runway, which ends 50 ft or so from the road, and when it was right above the road, it went almost vertical and climbed like a motherfarker... Right above our car, awesome as hell, especially since I was not driving and got to rubberneck. Anyway, it's a good idea not to pull over and park EXACTLY there, there were even signs about not stopping or parking right there, which cars were all parked around.
