jehovahs witness protection: I wonder if they taste good.

They do. I've eaten them when traveling in Asia.  Having said that, the parrotfish are overharvested, and are needed to eat the algae off of the coral reef.  No parrotfish, and the algae overgrows and smothers the coral.

See article here:
Reefs where parrotfish are not protected have suffered significant declines, including Jamaica, the entire Florida reef tract from Miami to Key West, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. At the same time, the report showed that some of the healthiest Caribbean coral reefs are those that are home to big populations of grazing parrotfish. These include the U.S. Flower Garden Banks national marine sanctuary in the northern Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda and Bonaire - all of which have restricted or banned fishing practices that harm parrotfish.

So, please don't eat the parrotfish. Other reef fish are equally tasty.

I'm pissed at the feds for dropping the recreational red snapper season to only 9 days this year...just before I went fishing. Yeah, so commercial fishermen can get them.

The picture is funny because the parrot fish looks like he is looking at the camera and smiling.

I hope that clears things up.

Serious question- if he was about to take a picture of the girl in the scuba gear and the fish swam in front of the lens why is the fish in focus and the girl a little blurry? Wouldn't the lens be focused on the girl and the fish would be blurry?

There's a little thing called "automatic focus" that's been gaining popularity for a few years now.

Mein Fuhrer I Can Walk: There's a little thing called "automatic focus" that's been gaining popularity for a few years now.

It's a feature on most shiatty cameras - whereby the focus happens right before the picture is taken instead of when the button is half pressed, like most normal cameras.  This results in an image like the one we have here, where the intended subject of the photo is out of focus.

It might also happen when you change the focus area of the camera to have it focus on something outside of the central ring.  A staged picture with a fish, for example.

Do you know how automatic focus works? If he  was JUST about to take the picture than he most likely already depressed the button halfway in order to focus on the girl. At that point, a fish swimming between him and the girl would not cause the camera to refocus.

Now, had the fish swam between him and the girl and he re-focused the shot than the fish actually became the subject since he intentionally focused on the fish- making this photo-bomb technically false.

I agree with both of your scenarios- cheap camera or staged picture both make sense!

Parrotfish are tremendously cute fish.  And since they are somewhat fearless, they will swim right up to the closest rocks in a lagoon to munch on some tasty coral.

That is all.

Yes, it was funny, and cute to begin with.

But according to the Daily Mail it doesn't clear it up for their readers, unless they mention it at least two times in the article.

It was the best, most surprising part of the whole piece.  The guy on the beach rubbing the poo all over himself, and the hot chick smiling and sitting in it was not something I would have expected at all.  And yet its still SFW.  Amazing.
