I'm always amazed when someone says something like that. Whose hands are you trying to keep it out of exactly? I'd almost be impressed if what he meant by "the wrong hands" were the hands of companies like Altria/Phillip Morris.

yeah I lost a lot of respect for Cuomo on this subject. His triangulation and either sheer ignorance or outright cowardice is disgusting. If you are going to call yourself a leader then lead. Don't read the polls and try to walk some fine line.

Next step is lower the age of this and consumption of alcohol to 18. It's an old refrain, but if you're old enough to be forced overseas to blow people's heads off for Halliburton, you should be able to do a shot and smoke some weed when you get home.

I remember when the drinking age in NY was 18.
Then they cranked it up to 21 on December 1, 1985 with no grandfather clause.
I turned 18 on November 26, so I was legal for 5 days, then had to wait 3 years for my next legal drink.

Dear governor Cuomo,

fark you. These restrictions are unreasonable and unrealistic and are exactly what prevent me from seriously waiting for legalization in any form. I can walk 10 blocks and drop a few bills to get weed right farking now, but I have to wait 18 months for implementation of a system to get a legitimate prescription for medical treatments, and even then I can't use the most user-regulating form available because you're afraid it'll put weed on the streets?

Puritanical utter goddamn farking garbage.

Will you stop f-ing around and just legalize it?

While I'm sort of happy because it IS a baby step in the right direction, it also pisses me off because they compromised away any practical change in the law.

I fully expect about half the US to legalise in some way or other and then for there to be a huge, probably religious backlash which will put the rest of the world back 5 years or so. It would give the US federal and European governments just enough reason to keep farking that chicken just a little bit longer.

Place Bets Now!

Stupid government will make legal weed so expensive, the black market will flourish, not die, net effect zero crime reduction associated with drug gangs etc over turf wars.

See Colorado. Dumbasses all the way around, everyone wanting to dip their straw into the money cup.

I hate politicians. I hate most people.  But what I really hate is lima beans.

This drug is as old as civilization itself. Homer wrote about, as a drug that made men forget their homes, and that turned them into swine. In Persia, a thousand years before Christ, there was a religious and military order founded which was called the Assassins and they derived their name from the drug called hashish which is now known in this country as marihuana. They were noted for their acts of cruelty, and the word "assassin" very aptly describes the drug.

do they still make that crap that i assume comes from Mexico, comes in a brick form and is mainly stems and seeds with a yellowish-green tint?

I haven't seen crap that bad since the mid '90s, even then you could get an ounce for about 30 bucks.

What are you talking about? Prostitution is still illegal. Frankly, I think legalizing prostitution would have done a hell of a lot more good for the country than legalizing loco weed.

Dude, if it was good enough for George Washington AND Carl Sagan, I'm in.  Willie Nelson, and others are just bonus..........alas, in Texas, it's a risk I cannot take, I sorta like staying in the Twice Monthly Salary Distribution Club. But the med benefits I could get would be enourmous, for my eyes and joint pain as a long ago defined Psoriatic Arthritis sufferer. I wait, and wonder, who's gonna win the Super Bowl and take prescription medications that have side affects that are far more dangerous than the disease they are intended to help. Read up on Humira and Enbrel.  It's scary, but it's all I have.

Want to move to Durango, Col.....only a matter of time and money.

I feel for you, bro'.   A similar thing happened to me, but I was legal to drink for 6 months before not being able to buy booze for another 2 1/2 years.

Not that it mattered - very few places carded back then.  I swear I was carded more when I was 30 than when I was 18.

No one cares.......I think the last time I was carded it was because they wanted to make sure I was using my own credit card and not someone else's.  You can go fight our wars, but you'd better not drink anything unless you get a fake ID.  I told her "You think I'd be buying this shiat if I were using a stolen credit card?"

And no smoking either!

In between when it was 18 and when it jumped to 21, it was 19 for a while. Which meant I got to drink legally for a few months, then had to wait nine months for a legal drink, and thank heavens the state legislature can't put on a pair of pants without spending a year studying, holding hearings, taking bribes and holding more hearings, otherwise it would've jumped to 21 earlier than it did and I would've been SOL twice.

Alcohol isn't legal because it was ever deemed safe, you idiot. It's legal because Prohibition was a cure worse than the disease. Arguing that MJ is safer than booze is making an argument for Prohibition all over again.

You potheads are hilarious. You won't convince anyone to legalize your weed by attacking drinkers.

It would seem the lesson is that prohibition of pot is even more pointless than alcohol prohibition as we've already figured out.

I am the 0.00001%!

I farking hate the stuff, but it's the cheapest and least-harmful method to manage my arthritis.  It's a choice between weed or vicodin.  Also helps with my anxiety issues, but then again, so do both booze and opiates - both of which I can have as much of as I wish.  I choose the stinky, foul-tasting herb because it works almost as well as the scrips, even though I absolutely HATE the high of it.  Drunk is fun.  Nodding on opiates is fun.  THC isn't fun for me.

So yeah, I feel special now. :)

/seriously, I hate the smell, taste, and high
//but the price can't be beat
///still working out a non-high dose
