Guess he would have rather been the guy making out with two women in Fenway's upper regions.

2014-07-07 03:50:30 PM
Not the Streisand Effect.  That's when you try to have something removed from the internet, only for it to spread like wildfire

2014-07-07 04:14:07 PM
So he's suing the internet? It says he was defamed by user comments, not the actual broadcasters. Why is that MLB.com's fault?

2014-07-07 05:00:32 PM

Krustofsky: upper regions.

is that what the kids are calling it now a days?

Andrew: The commentators called me "fatty, unintelligent and stupid".

Defense: Your honor, he is a Yankees fan.

Judge: Case dismissed.

2014-07-07 06:52:58 PM
The dude's being harassed for paying for a seat to sleep in.  Are we really that bored?

/yes, yes we are.

That's how most people feel about baseball: it's like watching the grass grow, except slower.

scottydoesntknow: So he's suing the internet? It says he was defamed by user comments, not the actual broadcasters. Why is that MLB.com's fault?

Anonymous users are notoriously hard to get a hold of, and are frequently po'. MLB has a mailing address. And money. Therefore, MLB's fault. Q.E.D.

2014-07-07 06:55:19 PM
Can you blame him for falling asleep? I mean it's only the Yankees and Red Sox

2014-07-07 06:56:15 PM
Rector? I hardly knew her.

2014-07-07 06:57:46 PM
Look I can understand falling asleep during the 8th inning or something, but the fourth? Come on man.

Also of note, I'm surprised that MLB.com commentors were making such oddly precise accusations of him being a "confused disgusting and socially bankrupt individual."

2014-07-07 06:57:54 PM
If the ESPN announcers took the time to "[unleash an] avalanche of disparaging words against the person of and concerning the plaintiff" then the game couldn't have been that interesting.

Oh wait, it's baseball.

2014-07-07 06:58:20 PM

This fan suing over this is proof that Yankees fans are much more obnoxious when they're awake.

I think that requires the Airplane! counterpoint image.

Yeah, he should know that there's no privacy in any sporting facility, especially when the game is being televised nationally (which every Yankees-Red Sox game is despite taking longer than your typical cricket match). He has no case.

2014-07-07 06:59:58 PM
I hope MLB.com does find out the identity of any commenters who called him "fatty, unintelligent and stupid" because they should receive some sort of award for accuracy.

2014-07-07 07:06:43 PM
To be fair, that was a long walk to the gate, then to his section, and then up the stairs.  I'm suprised that doughy summbiatch didn't fall asleep or have a heart attack in the aisle.

That caught my eye as well, kind of odd comments to make on the pic of a guy asleep at a baseball game.

The MLB may claim they're protected by parody law, but I could understand this guy trying to make a case on the possible basis that MLB posted the video in order to harass him via public mockery or something, but it still seems iffy.

Fatty I can understand, but "unintelligent and stupid" does seem over the line. Seems like a great place to take a nap.

The DS9 baseball episodes are almost as bad as the Ferengi-centric ones... Almost.

This is as dumb as the guy next to him trying to sue for the announcers pointing out he's eating chicken.

Especially since nothing good ever tends to happen in baseball.

I went to a Yankees game once. People were more interested in the football game at the Meadowlands.

BB game was a real snozefest.

Well, it's baseball so that last sentence was really redundant. You don't need to tell us it was boring, that's already understood being that you're talking about baseball.

Please. Whatever happened to being able to take a joke over something like this. He is a big fat guy who got caught zonked out at a nationally broadcast game. He should take the ribbing and not be so thin-skinned. Embarrassing things happen to everyone, he was just exposed to a much greater extent than most of us would be.

Watching 11 minutes of play over 3 hours is better?

Interesting.

Don't most video games have a disclaimer at the start that basically says "online game experience may change" to tell you that people on the internet are assholes?

Jeez, it's baseball!  It's like smoking a nice little bowl after Thanksgiving dinner and going into a slightly-overheated living room to have a little lie-down on the couch.
The medicos call it "inducing a coma".

2014-07-07 08:47:35 PM
Considering that half of the people in the states are just as fat and lazy as that guy, it's pretty disgusting that people would react that way to his picture.

2014-07-07 08:59:40 PM
First, the lawsuit is dumb.

Secondly, however, I have never been a big fan of singling out fans in any sporting event and commenting on what they are doing.

So, like most things in life, all parties are dumbasses
