There are striking parallels between the Bhagavad Gita and some of the epistles of Paul.  Studying those side-by-side is a must for a post-grad degree in comparative religion.

According to the Ancient History Encyclopedia, the "Bhagavad Gita," which literally translated means "The Song of the Bhagavan," seeks to answer a host of spiritual questions:

How does one pursue a spiritual existence without receding from society?
Can one both live righteously and attend to familial obligations at the same time?
Is it possible to honor God without resorting to the devoted asceticism of monks?

Oddly enough, a few spiritual questions were left unmentioned in the translations.  What is the secret ingredient in Coca Cola and who put the bop in the bop-shoo-bop-shoo-bop remain for a later translation one assumes.

Estimates for the date of authorship of the Gita vary between 600 BC and 500 AD, so don't go getting your panties in a wad there.

While I understand your point, it isn't the case, unfortunately. One of the schools I briefly considered for my masters didn't have a single class on Hinduism. In fact, the only non-Abrahamic class they had were a few on Buddhism.

Forbidden Doughnut: Christianity ripped off some stuff from an older religion? No way!

While I giggled, probably not. Evidence of contact between the two groups is basically non-existent, despite what the "Jesus studied with Hindu masters!!!" folks want to tell you.

I keep a copy of the Gita on my Kindle to thumb through now and then. It serves to remind me how little aptitude I have for spiritual teachings...

Don't go to a religiously-affiliated school for comparative religious studies.
