Wow, there are some remarkably stupid people out there.  No, of course that's not a UFO, it's probably just a meteor strike or a camera glitch.  Not much atmosphere on Mars, so cosmic rays can screw up a photo a lot more easily than they do here.  And the pareidolia photographs in the slide show on the bottom of the page are extremely unconvincing.

Halfway down the article, they quote a guy from NASA explaining that it's a hot pixel, and it's been a known issue for quite some time.

But, you know... IS THIS A UFO?!?!?!

Well, if you consider cosmic rays to be flying, it might be an IFO (Identified Flying Object).

It doesn't matter if it's a UFO or not. Until an Alien lands in times square no one is going to believe it regardless.

WTF does Fox News have to do with anything? I never said Fox News was better.

Huffington Post does not have a conservative bias, so I didn't use Fox News as my comparison.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the Huffington Post is aware that the initialism "UFO" means "Unidentified Flying Object"

Sorry, the word we're looking for here is "extraterrestrial."  No points this round, Huff.

I beg your pardon, but if your parties revolve around UFO pictures and Jesus on toast, then what the hell could Iszael have possibly done to make them worse?

Because this natural phenomena never happens on any planet, with or without an atmosphere.

I downloaded the ~360KB raw images and thought it looked like a hot pixel.

When cameras are used a lot, the breakdown of fragile sensors causes some to be more sensitive and light up in longer exposures. They can mask it off in software, but we're looking at very recent images so it's probably just another new stuck pixel.

However, the pixel seems to move between images, relative to the edge of the JPEG. I don't know exactly how this camera is constructed... but the pixel moved.

so aliens

UFO is not synonymous with aliens. Is it unidentified? Is it flying? Then it's a UFO.

Just sayin'.
