Someone help me. How am I supposed to get a manned rocket into orbit around Jool (Jupiter)?
I have plenty of Delta V to get it there, but there's like no possible way to bring enough to stay in orbit.

Lift off with a sh*t ton of strap on mainsails and feeder/booster tanks to drop on the way up.

Bring a book to read while some weak but efficient nuke engines wheeze their way across the solar system.

Park your main ship in far orbit, and detach small manned probes to survey Jool + moons.

Optional goal: Realize you didn't pack enough fuel for the trip home, fly an unmanned drone tanker all the way out there to refuel the shuttle using one of the probe docking collars, fly the whole mess back to Kerbal, park in Kerbal orbit and drop each of the probes down under parachute power to recover an assload of science. Then, just to show off, bring the shuttle down for a controlled landing using the control surfaces that everyone told you you were stupid to drag a billion miles around in space...

Ear defenders. Sometimes you just have to love the British. I watched more of that than I intended, great stuff for kids. The next Braun might be in that audience.

/ w/o another holocaust hopefully.

Use the atmosphere to slow down. I forget what a good height is but there are calculators (120km seems familiar though). It takes a bunch of passes through the upper atmosphere to get your AP down nice and low, and then burn prograde at the AP to circularize.
