Racing overload. I'm okay with this.

Robin Miller in the drivers meeting was amusing. You could hear the Indy Lights in the back ground.

Like I said in that thread, you can probably watch all of this and catch the end of that.

Pre-event ticket sales were way down. The grand stand doesn't look as bad as they made it out to be. I think the track owner is getting pressure from the France Framily.

Yeah, I saw those too.  :(

Indycar has some of the most entertaining racing these days, not sure why they can't get enough  viewers.

Well if they would have had the good sense not to schedule this race July 4th weekend, it may have had better attendance.

I have seen six Cup races there. The seats are in the wrong spot for good viewing. And, as a matter of fact, traffic is beyond terrible.

I'm a fan who has only become a serious racing fan in the past few years but if you read the comments on SPEEDS Facebook site it seems that a lot of people are still incredibly bitter over the Cart/Indy drama that happened in the past and will go out of their way to spread their vitriol and rip IndyCar a new one. I don't really understand it. I like IndyCar, I like ovals, road and street courses because I think it gives a nice variety of courses and I don't understand why people think they should only run one type of track like ovals.

Yeah, there are a lot of people still butthurt over that.  It is over and done, why dwell on the past.  I like the variety of tracks.  All ovals gets really boring.  Road/street courses are exciting.

Agreed. What surprises me is that Tony George's "muricans only" idea still has legs. Variety of tracks, variety of drivers, glad to see aero kits coming back.

GREEN!

I think the problem on this track is that it is too big with too few cars.  There is little on track action since everyone is so spread out.

I loved the pit reporter's comment about "some other series" where drivers intentionally throw crap out on the track hoping for a debris caution.

I never thought of Pocono as a big track. But yeah, nothing's happening.

I put my wife to sleep by turning this race on.  I woke her up by flipping back to the rain delay.

Oh and somebody re-calibrated the NASCAR idol to cause a caution at Pocono, but aimed it wrong and made my living room implode.

This is an old school style superspeedway race. The problem is this race often had 29-33 cars. 21 cars just isn't enough. Indycar really needs to figure out a way to encourage more teams to run full time.

They may as well, this race is boring as hell. Green all the way, no slicing-and-dicing. Yawn.

I don't think it's an Indycar problem; it's a racing and money in general problem. Car counts and race counts are down just about everywhere. Racing is such a costly sport, any economic problems affect it more than other sports.

NASCAR ratings have been dropping like a stone, too.  Racing in the United States is suffering from a lack of innovation which keeps the excitement level down.  And no, a "playoff" format is not innovation.  I just don't understand why something like the United SportsCar Championship hasn't taken off yet - I would much rather see a whole bunch of different cars with totally different chassis setups battle it out on a road course than identical cars whose only advantage is the amount of money the teams can pour into engine R&D and pit crews.  I guess that model wouldn't work on a high speed oval, but it seemed to be alright at Indy for the first 70 years or so.

I blame that more on TNT's craptacular coverage than anything else.
