I don't kill nothing unless I have to. Well, flies. I kill flies. I catch the bugs and let them out of the house. Go ahead and laugh, killers.

You should at least kill the cockroaches.

Yes, and spiders. And mosquitoes. And fleas, potato bugs, earwigs, silverfish, bedbugs and those wretched little things that you can never quite see but that leave big welts all over your ankles.

Hard to identify things when they are embraced by fire and turned into charcoal bits.

"Overall, this study supports the general perception that adults are poor discriminators in distinguishing stinging insects with the exception of the honeybee," the authors write.

I'm OK with this. If it's NOT a bee I don't give a fark what kind of stinging asshole it is.

Summertime in Texas. I've got an arsenal of insecticides in my garage, and somewhere just to the left of zero interest in entomology.

It's horrifying to me that in some parts of the country even innocent little ants sting people - like little wingless wasps or something.

Were you aware that male wasps don't have stingers, therefore only female wasps present a stinging threat.  This is the one time you'll hear on Fark that it's perfectly okay to thrash any female (wasp) you run across.

You try sexing a wasp. I'll just smash all of them.

I try to do that with spiders because they kill other bugs. And they don't bring friends.

No means to do it but I would abridge this poster to read:

under the line, any number of crawling insects, then any number of flying insects

I have an annual wasp problem under my eaves; it pops up every year around the start of July. Today, like clockwork, they appeared. I'm giving it another hour or so until sundown and then I'm gonna have to go take care of those farkers.

I haven't been stung in over twenty years. I think I was stung by a wasp yesterday, about 80% sure. Oddly enough, I didn't even die.

Do you see this?
Do you know what this is?

This is a WASP.

It's mission in nature is to fark shiat up where ever it goes.
It does not pollinate things.
It does not make honey.
It is not a bee.

IT IS A MOTHERFARKING WASP.
You cannot battle the wasp. The wasp is never alone.
It is always accompanied by other, even more violent and aggressive wasps; all of which are, in turn, accompanied by even more.

When you see a wasp, do you know what you do?
You stand the fark still.
You chill the fark out
and hope the wasp doesn't
put you on it's list of shiat
it wants to fark up today.

You stand right the fark there
and wait for the wast to finish it's business
and move on with it's rampage,
and then you go the fark home.

I found this chart on Wikipedia that had a very succinct breakdown:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characteristics_of_common_wasps_and_bees  . There's other stinging insects, but that'll tell you which you need to swat in the case of bees/hornets/yellowjackets (it's yellow jackets and most hornets).

The "expert" in the article seems clueless:

FTFA: Liesch said people who are stung can capture the insect and keep it at home in a container.
"If you start having some kind of adverse reaction you can get it to the physician, who then may be able to identify it and if they can't positively identify it, they can get it to another resource, like an entomologist," he said.
He added that if the bug can't be captured, experts can often identify insects from photographs, as long as they're not too dark and the resolution is good.

About the only way you can capture an insect or spider after it has stung you is if it is dead (say a honeybee killed when its stinger pulls out of its body, or something you smash as it is stinging)

Then you can transplant their brains or something I guess.

Wasps eat caterpillars. I see paper wasps carrying balled up wads of caterpillar parts back to the nest. Other wasps (e.g. Ammophila) bring back whole caterpillars. This is a useful habit if you like your trees not defoliated.

I'm not killing the bugs in my home because the sting or not,  I'm killing them because they ick me out and I don't want them breeding and multiplying in my home.

That's also why most spiders get a pass because they eat those other things.

Kumana Wanalaia: It does not pollinate things.

Incorrect.

Wasps are very important pollinators.

I still hate them, though.

Chiggers. The ankle bugs are chiggers. Sulfur keeps them away from you by the way. You can buy the powder at outdoors stores and garden centers.

FTFA:  "To see how good people are at identifying common stinging insects, Baker and colleagues enrolled 640 adults from four different air force bases in Maryland, Florida, Ohio and Nevada."

Shouldn't "air force" be capitalized?

Don't have cockroaches around here. Or earwigs, as far as I know. One of the benefits of living where it's cold.

Or big spiders. But if I see clock spider, I"m burning down the house.

Or you can go see your friend THE DEVIL and get all you want for free. I know some of you all are friends with the devil. It's not just me, right?

I use a bottle of 25% Bifenthren. Two table spoons per gallon is enough to kill just about anything, even termites. I mix it up and spray it around my home, and now I don't see any insects.

As an added benefit, I have a healthy green glow that makes it easy for me to move around at night.
