He probably made good money the last few years being on network TV, and kept his pop-culture profile up.  Smart to move on on his terms.  It certainly doesn't make him crazy to do so.

Gosh, getting paid huge sums of money to sit in a chair and tell sh*tty singers that they're sh*tty is SO HORRIBLE, you guys!

At least this frees him up for a Goodie Mob reunion, so there's that.

Silly subby, Cee-lo has 'fark you' money.  He's got enough money to where he can say 'fark you' to just about anyone.

Ironically because of 'fark you' music.

I remember back in the '90s listening to a NPR interview with Nile Rodgers (who helped create the disco band Chic, for you young farmers). Anyways, he said he'd wake up in the morning and the first thing he'd have to do is take a hit or toke of something - and that's why he quit drugs. His quote (more or less), "Doing drugs became too much like a job, and I didn't want a job."

Is it just me, or do those kick drums behind her seem to be too far apart and pointed the wrong way to be a single kit?

The one on the left of the picture looks like it needs to be rotated clockwise to line up the kick pedal to the drummer.

perhaps it's the camera angle

No. Not that way. That's the title of his most famous song.

Re: The article: Uh... wow, Subby. Angry much? Why exactly should a guy who makes probably tens of thousands of dollars a day just sitting there, if not more, do any work that he doesn't feel like? He more or less did the show for fun and to keep his name in popular lexicon. If the show stopped being worth that to him why should he continue it?

His net worth is estimated at $22 million. Depending on cashflow he could end up bankrupt in a decade.

You don't have real fark you money until you're north of $200 million at that point you can spend a million dollars to spite someone and not really feel it.

...anyone who goes bankrupt after having $22 million in the bank (I know networth is not liquid, but...) has one of three qualities:

1. Has a spending problem (likely gambling);
2. Is extremely ill;
3. Is an idiot.

One time I was trying to explain who Danger Mouse was to someone and mentioned some of his connections and past projects like Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz and the person I was explaining this to had no idea who any of the bands or people I mentioned were. That's what you remind me of. If you are anything like that guy, you could probably name any show tune, past or present.

I always find it funny when the Fark accountants talk about how fast and irresponsibly people will spend millions, especially someone who'shiat the lottery. "22 million? He could be bankrupt in half a day!" Considering he's done things like branch out into TV by doing The Voice, he seems like he's getting good career advice and will probably be fine hopefully.

Maybe it's got a slave pedal? I mean, it's still way too far away and probably sets you up for either your floor toms or high hat being out of place, but that's my best guess.

\of course, let's go back to the idea of a drummer good enough to be featured on a TV talent show, but still

You can put the pedal wherever you like, or angle the drum however you like. They have some pretty fancy articulated chain and axle driven pedals out now. Looks like only one is miced though, so maybe the drummer has two to look super cool.

Like him or not, he has a great voice. He is talented and not just a product of autotune. And he is not afraid to take risks and try new things musically. I always felt this lame show was taking him away from creating. He is better off without it.
