Here's the problem with letting people hang. If I go in and see that every table is full, I am not buying anything iam going somewhere I can sit.

Big deal Back in the 1600s and 1700s, the Brits did business in the local coffeehouse.

what we need to do is rebuild the office into a coffee shop in order to become more productive. Then to drive costs down make the  coffice publicly available. The public would subsidize the working space ensuring greater corporate profits while employees will enjoy better coffee and pay for the privilege of drinking it.

Exactly. I like places that have no wall outlets available for customers and have a 30 minute max lounge time. You're buying a cup of coffee. Enjoy it and whatever company you have, and GTFO to make more room for other people. Using an entire table meant for 4 people by yourself so you can have your laptop, newspaper, textbooks and notebooks all spread out is a nuisance and deterrent for more people to utilize the limited space made available.

I think it would be a great idea if someone was to make a coffee place where you really did "lease" assigned areas, and as long as you were there, you got a free cup of whatever hipster latte shiat drink you want every hour, could charge all your devices, and chat it up all you want. Of course, the price would be like $20/hr, but it would be great for all the hipsters until it became cool. Like those old internet cafes, but without giving them computers and charging them more.

That's kind of the idea that this article is about. The coffee shop is charging $3 an hour for specially designated spaces for the people that want to work. They get unlimited wifi and coffee/tea.
