You can't say that here.  There's a free speech zone over there behind the fence, but that puts you at code yellow risk status.

Is this surprising, given that pretty much half the country believes everything Fox craps out, beginning with "Our president is the anti-Christ?"

nickdaisy: discount the politicians, - the bankers, brokers, billionaires attorneys outsourcing or decimating the entire economy, drug addled gang warfare in the streets, alarms on every car and half the homes, rampant theft, leviathan corporations, a sh*t job market, 17 trillion in debt, ridiculous taxes, health care that only millionaires can afford and an insurance industry that's sucking what little is left out of the working and middle classes with the aid of legislation - and this place is the best.

i'm with you there.  but even if the government steps on the 4th amendment while the megacorps bleed us of every cent we have, we're still blessed with great neighbors (two oceans, friendly guys to north and south), diverse geography, kick ass culture, and a goddamned beautiful flag.

Children are often disillusioned when they find out Santa Claus isn't real.

There is a real America buried under the jingoism and propaganda spouted by lying politicians, and the "pundits" who prop them up. Remember the outpouring of help after Katrina, 9/11, Joplin, hell even the Typhoon that hit the Philippines?

Stop listening the mouthpieces of the rich. They are enjoying watching us scrabble to the death over the scraps they leave for that very purpose.

Many, many people have sacrificed all for our freedom. Many, many more have sacrificed some for the betterment of those with less. Just as each of us has the right to vote, we each have the choice of doing the right thing, or not. Sacrifice for your fellow man can be noble. Sacrificing others for your ideals is abominable.

Remember all those who have sacrificed something for you, and be grateful for the opportunity to do the same for someone else. You will feel better, and the country you live in will look better.

Kinda, sorta but they didn't dump you into a database that knows what you eat, when where you bought it, how man times you chew your food and when you sh*t it out.  I realize the entire western world had it's head tucked up it's ass on a net connected PC or a G capable phone, but if you turn to the left, you'll see Agent Smith.  Bonus, "no fly lists".

Quite a few states still have laws on the books that intend theoretically to put someone away for getting a b-j. I don't think the laws would work as intended but it's still hardly a great example of Land of the Free is it?

Lawrence v. Texas (2003) states such laws are unconstitutional and unenforceable. Although one would welcome being arrested for such, because the inevitable lawsuit that followed would be glorious.

I'm still waiting to be arrested for not pulling over and disassembling and covering my Mustang when the amish buggy comes around the curve.

When your entire country is based on moving bank notes around and propping up any hypocrisy that does so with great effectiveness, the small hypocrisies are mostly for entertainment purposes.  Or to nail poor people up on arcane points of archaic laws.  The black letter and the spirit of the law have been living in separate wings of the estate for decades.

Well, both the republicans and democrats are pro-government. But only one of them is unabashedly pro-government. You don't need to watch fox news to know which party that is. And you don't have to watch (or like) fox news to despise the blatant pro-government, pro-politician attitude. I'm no fan of the republicans. But I hate that the democrats are so statist.

Your Constitution says you should be the "freest" people on Earth , whatever the hell that means. In practice, it's something else entirely.Thank G.O.D. that the general population is well-equipped with Ford F-150s and 50" colour TVs or the shiat would hit the fan.

You have to remember, to the people watching our quadrennial dog an pony pageants and subsequent governance, our centrists are slightly to the right of Adolph Eichmann, our conservatives are essentially totalitarian, theocratic fascists and our liberals aren't.  At all.
