No, wolves are responsible for shaping Yellowstone's politics. And the ecology, since that includes both the wolves and the squirrels. And the mule deer, and the elk, and the coyotes, and the tourists, and the bison.....that's kind of what ecology is.

I believe subby was referring to a link from last year about the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone and their effect on the rivers.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, a few words from Charles Darwin on the relative value of a decidedly uncute animal, the worm:

"It may be doubted whether there are many other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the world as these lowly organized creatures";

"It will be difficult to deny the probability that every particle of earth forming the bed from which . . . old pasture land springs has passed through the intestines of worms"; and

"Without the work of this humble creature, who knows nothing of the benefits he confers upon mankind, agriculture, as we know it, would be very difficult, if not wholly impossible."

The "on a stick" method requires KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. Unfortunately I am all out.

BTW. Cats love squirrel.

He probably was, and I knew that. I just go into nerd rage when someone uses biological terms not quite correctly. Ecology is a beautiful thing, but it seems like not too many people really understand how it works.
It's like when I start talking about math and give everyone a sudden headache.

Nothing requires KC Masterpiece.  It's really bad BBQ sauce and I'm ashamed its named after a place with so many good sauces.
