Brown's personal finances were the subject of much discussion by that time, after a divorce and a lawsuit revealed details of his lifestyle, which included Rolex watches, Las Vegas shopping sprees and a 4,455-square-foot home in Alaqua Lakes, with a $7,000 monthly mortgage paid by Faith World.

What?  He's just a living example of his own prosperity gospel preaching.

I also learned from TFA that there's an Evangelical Christian Credit Union that will apparently give you $11million to fleece the rubes spread the Gospel.

You don't expect rubes people to just give money to a poor god's front man. The only way to appear above money is to spend it like a drunken sailor. What?
Oh, wait, ya know, that right there IS your problem.

There seems to be a commonality evident in Big Faith, THE MONEY.

The only thing Benny Hinn had to do with this was to sell the property to pastor Clint Brown. It was Brown and his group who defaulted. Now, I'm no fan of Benny Hinn the con man but how does this foreclosure make him a "disgraced televangelist?"

Following paragraph:

As he did in sermons at Wekiva High last month, Brown suggested in 2005 that the scrutiny was based on persecution:

No, sounds more like poor money management to me, Brown. Might want to learn how to maintain a budget.

Since last month, Brown, a flamboyant Pentecostal preacher and noted Christian recording artist, has been holding Sunday services at Wekiva High School's auditorium.

FTFA:The foreclosure of the Faith World property on Forest City Road, which Brown purchased from Hinn in 2000, was set in motion by a lawsuit filed in September by Evangelical Christian Credit Union of California, one of several companies owed money by the church.

Romans 13:8:Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Benny Hinn had long ago converted this property to cash, $11+ Million worth of cash to be exact.  (that was the amount of the mortgage.  There is no telling how much of a down-payment the buyer, the Good Reverend Brown had provided to Hinn, in excess of the mortgage amount to obtain the property.

I was hoping that Hinn's fortunes has been reversed, but alas after actually RTFA, this was not the case.  Hinn is going about his business of fleecing the rubes, unmolested.   Hell, he may even swoop back in and reclaim the property at the auction for a fraction of what he had sold it for previously.  He's slick like that, but most con artists are.

From Wikipedia:

A controversial aspect of Hinn's ministry is his teaching on, and demonstration of, a phenomenon he dubs "The Anointing"-the power purportedly given by God and transmitted through Hinn to carry out supernatural acts. At Hinn's Miracle Crusades, he has allegedly healed attendees of blindness, deafness, cancer, AIDS,[20] and severe physical injuries. However, investigative reports by the Los Angeles Times, NBC's Dateline, the CBC's The Fifth Estate, and the Nine Network's 60 Minutes have called these claims into question.

Really?!

Turn it into a retreat for homeless people or people in poverty where volunteers or paid employees help them write resumes, dress for interviews, get them mental health help or plain old medical help, enroll them in safety net programs or school, etc...

In other words....use it to do things the "church" should have been using it to help people with but didn't.

How does he get that many people to fall over in his productions?  I read one story online where a guy said that he had everyone stand for a long time with their arms above their heads and then blasted them with some loud music.

He probably can only pay off the people that come up on stage and flop around on the floor.  I suspect the people in the audience have been swept up in the moment and wanted to feel like the holy spirit was entering (leaving?) them.  So probably not fakery, just people that are willing dupes.

Well, you don't want to be the only one there that didn't get bad-touched by God, right?  When everybody flops, you flop too or you might get called out for being possessed.

You do realize that the Catholic Church is heavily hierarchical. You have to be fairly high up before living a life of luxury, say an Arch-Bishop. Since Hinn is the head of his church why shouldn't he be as rich as a Pope?

It's probably like hypnotism shows. When the man says jump, you jump, no matter that you're still fully conscious. You're part of the show, so you've got to play your part.
