...and this illustrates pretty damn much what's wrong with Country music today...

I'mma go get some Hank Williams, and Grandpa Jones and Hank Snow, and Robbie Fulks even might want to get some credit long before this asshat...

Not to mention George "no show" Jones and his various antics.

I could have sworn he had something for breakfast.

And, just to get it out there, The Perfect Country and Western Song. He was doing something when Mom got out of prison.

Gotta be careful looking up David Allen Coe at work, though.

hubiestubert: Robert Earl Keen.

I'm so tempted to go to Kerrville tomorrow. Beer, BBQ, fireworks, and Robert Earl would make for a good 4th of July. If you've never seen him play live, it's worth your time.

The Poster Boy for BroCountry says something stupid.  Again.  Wow.  Shocker.

This guy thinks his song from 2006 was the first to beer and trucks in songs? Hell, beer and trucks in country songs was already a tired old cliché raked over the coals by comedians throughout the 80's and 90's.

What do you get when you play country music backwards?

You get your wife back.  You get your dog back.  You get your truck back...

If it weren't for beer, there wouldn't BE any country music

2014-07-03 02:55:32 PM
Um, yeah, people like Johnny Cash and George Jones were putting beer and amphetamines together 20 years before you were born.

I'll bet money that this guy never rode a horse or ever owned a pickup.

He says he's from one of the Carolinas, but I bet he's from New Jersey.

This guy sounds like country music's response to Bieber comparing himself to Kurt Cobain.

Hell, I don't even like or listen to country music by choice and I know he's full of manure.

Too many friends listened to country.
From small town Iowa.
Could identify livestock raised on a farm from the smell driving by it.

I would like to nominate "Feeling Single Seeing Double" and "Your Good Girls Gonna Go Bad" as two great drinking songs performed by women.

Porter Wagoner did one full album of drinking songs before this hat of the month snot sniffer was even shot out of his mommy's crack.

Hank Williams is nothing but a Sir to me.
When I was 21 (half my life ago), my martial
arts teacher played his music incessantly
while we trained. Good times. CSB

"Jack o' Diamonds, Jack o' Diamonds and I know you of old
You've robbed my poor pockets of silver and gold
It's a whiskey, you villain, you've been my downfall
You've kicked me, you've cuffed me, but I love you for all

It's a whiskey, rye whiskey, rye whiskey I cry
If I don't get rye whiskey, well, I think I will die"

Hell, Gene Autry was more of a wild badass than these coal rollin' farkwits.

Also, keep in mind that when Johnny Cash decided to cover a bunch of modern songs, he didn't pick anything country.

Country Music is dead.  Replaced by boy band, southern pop artists that would have been hair metal groups in another lifetime.  Singers that go by 3 names, and talk about being "real country" to aging frat bros.  They take boy band pop songs, put a twang in them, and sing them with a slight CUUUntry accent.

That's the only way I can rationalize what he's saying and I agree with your last statement.

What a smug hipster. Damn near every pre-1980 country artist sang about booze. Hank III takes it to 11. You lose, loser.

Country music is alive and well. You just won't hear any on a station that plays Eric Church. Oh and while we're piling on, Bob Wills, Bubbles in my beer, 1947.

Agreed.  It's just hard to find.
