Wow. Just when I thought hip-hop had reached the bottom of the barrel. Christian musicians are like Bronies: it isn't enough for them to have their own fandom, they have to ruin every other fandom by mashing it up with their own.

There are only two things about Katie Perry that I give the slightest shiat about, and this story doesn't relate to either one of them.

I didn't know there was a way to make Christian rap worse, but a Christian rap covered by Katy Perry would certainly do it.

I listened to both songs, and I'm just not hearing the part that Katy Perry ripped off. Are there some similarities? Sure, they both have a somewhat similar flow in the beginning, but the music, and lyrics, are both very different. And neither are anywhere near original enough to steal from.

And the Christian rap actually makes Katy Perry's music sound good by comparison.

"...Jesus Christ, anointed one, Ascended in the air(Pronounced "ear" so that it will rhyme)
Or you can say the air(Pronounced correctly now), where the Father made him heir
Of all things the Throne is more than a chair...
But after our redemption, yes he did take a chair"

Who the FARK writes crap like this?

And "the similarities are blatant"? Really? When your music is a loop of about 4 seconds of poppy shiat and you say "Yeah!" at the beginning, anything sounds similar.

In other words, these songs son't sound alike, except that they suck, and someone says 'Oh Yeah!' at the beginning.

Of course, once John Fogerty got sued for plagiarizing himself, so anything is possible.

Hangin with my homeboys cause ya know that they demand hits

Me and my boy Jesus we dress so well

If you don't believe the Word, it's your loss
Standing at the top of mount sinai
This is pure truth I aint lyin I

I haven't listened to Christian music since the 90's, but back then it was all blatantly stolen from non-Christian sources. Has that changed now?

I mean, there was even a South Park episode about that...

So, I'm guessing that song was already sucky to begin with, and Katy Perry just amped up the suck.

There was one line that was the same, but everything else was pretty different. This isn't another Vanilla Ice/Bowie thing. Of course, I couldn't listen to that crappy rap for more than a minute. Damn, that was bad.

I'm not hearing it either.  I think it's really just a case of very formulaic production.

You know that I don't care 'bout what your favourite cheese is
Cuz everything is gouda when you're rockin' out with Jesus
The boss of the cross
Rolled a stone without no moss
Don't need to floss to clean the dross
Or dress like Hoss to give a toss
Paintin' better than Bob Ross
Turnin' water into special sauce
Don't get to know him - it's your loss
Cuz he's Jesus Christ, on a cracker, or a Ritz
Stick him in your pipe and smoke a bowl of Eucharist

Yeah, if someone wants to throw out some time stamps to the parts that sound the same, that would be great. I'm not hearing it either.

"So the entire case is built around the fact that both songs' riffs start on the minor third, repeated four times and then the minor second three more times, at which point they differ"
