No, it sounds like they would object to the boycott, not compliment someone for it.

They are prime targets for a complementary boycott, however.

I will continue to not buy cars from Holland Chevrolet, then.

I'm boycotting Hobby Lobby!  From now on, I will purchase whatever the hell they sell at Hobby Lobby from a competitor.  I'm sure I can find whatever the hell Hobby Lobby sells there.

There are some bummers on that list.  Eden foods makes great trail mix.  Ozinga is interesting.  I don't really have the power to boycott them since I don't buy a lot of concrete - but they are used in pretty much every public and private building project in Chicago.

Well, I'm a misogynist right-wing pig, so from now on, I'm ONLY doing my shopping at Hobby Lobby.

Several of those are companies that are difficult for the average consumer to target for a boycott. Who pays attention to what company makes the concrete that a contractor uses? What company makes the consumer packaging for products you purchase? Unfortunately companies like these can get away with more shiat.

I assume there are a bunch of arseholes promising to shop at Hobby Lobby more now. Has Mike Huckabee declared a Hobby Lobby Day yet?

Not to be *that* guy, but it's complement, not compliment.

Randy Reed, huh?  Oh well, I guess I won't be shopping at one of the shiattiest dealerships in Missouri.

No, subby, there are still plenty of places to shop that aren't pushing their religion and literal privilege on their employees.

/wow, look at all the trivial shiat I don't need/can't afford on that list

Don't forget your local mom-and-pop framing shops, fabric shops, yarn shops, bead shops, art supply stores, etc. Support your local economy while sticking it to a bunch of regressive, religious asshats.

I don't think the boycott will be that difficult, subby.

I couldn't find a Micheal's where I live, so I decided to go to Home Depot/Lowe's for my art and craft needs!

Yeah, I know. The point being, I can survive without art and craft supplies. Hobby Lobby (and all other companies that cuts employee hours to make them part time so that they don't have to provide healthcare to them) is not gonna see a single penny from me, ever again.

Seriously though, why would you ever want to eat at a place where employees don't have health insurance (and therefore, not healthy, and therefore will make you sick)?

2014-07-02 01:20:43 PM
So...a bunch of white-owned, mid-western businesses that cater to Rubes? Yeah, most of us are already not buying everything on that list.

Shostie: I will continue to not buy cars from Holland Chevrolet, then.

True story: I was new car shopping about 2 months ago, and went to the Holland dealership because they were advertising a really good price on last year's Hyundai Elantra model.  The whole time I was there I kept thinking, "Why does this place seem so familiar if I've never been here before?"  Of course I shrugged it off, bought the car, and forgot about it.

Then two days later the local news did a story about the Supreme Court case, and how Holland had sued the state over having to provide contraceptive coverage.  My wife wanted me to return the car, and tell them exactly why I was doing it.  I was seriously tempted.

FTFA: "Many of those companies -- there are 48 of them with cases pending in lower courts, according to the National Women's Law Center -- are "closely held,"

So there are at least 48 companies with suits against Obamacare. What is the breakdown on how many are truly "independent" vs. how many are suing under the instigation and with lawyers provided by some anti-ACA organization maybe funded by the Koch brothers?

I've gotten concrete from Ozinga, the next time I need some I need to let them know why I'm going somewhere else.

Why the hell would anyone shop at Hobby Lobby anyways? Their everyday prices are 3 times what the item is worth. Then they have a "sale" where everything in an aisle is 50% off. You are still paying more than it is worth, but it looks like you are getting a deal. It takes advantage of a woman's mind I guess.

The one time we went there, I told my wife to stop thinking their "sale" was really a sale.

And then, once you've found it, you have to make your way through the frothing-at-the-mouth fundies with their now-reduced "free speech" zones (thanks again, SCOTUS) yelling in your face that yer goin' to hell because you use birth control.

Same with Hobby Lobby. Can you really claim to be boycotting something if you didn't shop there to begin with?

It's a horrible, disorganized, signless shiathole whose merchandise is 80% knickknacks, most of which are in pieces on the floor.

No one is asking for free birth control, pinhead. People are asking for the birth control they deserve because they've already paid for it. It's factored into the cost of their insurance, which is part of their compensation. But you knew that - you've never shied away from making up ridiculous shiat when necessary to "prove" your point.

At least one of those suits is asking not to have to pay for ALL contraceptives, not just "abortifacients"...be interesting to see if that makes a difference.
