You know technically speaking, pulling out of your driveway in the morning can kill you.  So don't do anything.

Life is tough, wear a helmet.

This. It's only bad for you if you read the nutritional information.

I only eat kosher bacon

Sure is a lot of gloom and doom on that site. Are they trying to put people off eating entirely?

A couple goodies(dump the margarine and the moldy fruit), but the organic apples one assumes that organic means no pesticides, which is false.

No leftovers more than four days old?  Two hour limit on left out food?  Seriously?  I don't eat left out more than a day pizza much anymore but jesus that only made me sick like, once.

Reminds me of the USDA recommendation that any pizza that sits out overnight should be thrown out.  If that was even remotely the case we would of lost the last six generations of college students.  These lists simply don't help.

Who the fark still eats leftovers after four days? If you haven't finished it by then, let it go.

Freeze that pound of bacon then cut it in 3rds or quarters then it's a lot more manageable.

Oh, the "deli meat causes 19% increase in pancreatic cancer" bit. Wearing black turtlenecks on stage has a higher correlation for pancreatic cancer.

2014-07-01 12:46:10 AM
I notice that foie gras and whale meat are absent from the list. So maybe we'd all better stick to those.

Your body is constantly in battle fighting off bacterial and viral infections.  All the time.  Your body "wins" if the concentration of pathogens is lower than what your current immune system is fortified to stave off.  You get sick when that density starts to approach your capacity to handle.  And you get deaded when it runs over.  So don't just scrap the mold off.  Cut some bits out too and you will be right as rain.

So, we manage to mention the interesting titbit about how omega 6 is not the magical panacea it's been buttered up to be and then completely fail to take into account that the LDL/HDL connection with saturated fat and heart disease may have been erroneous all along as well.

Eat the margarine, you dingbats. It's not hiding in wait to stab your kiddies.

Foodtards are hilarious.

bacon is for sycophants and products of incest

//no wonder so many Fakers eat too much of it

Gotta love that article. Eat fresh food, not processed! But your fresh food might be contaminated with pesticides. Uh, thanks for the tip?

Yeah ok so tin cans are full of bad shiat that can leach into the food. Duly noted.

Leftovers go bad after awhile and heat speeds up the process. Also noted.

Mold is bad. Duh.

Deli meat is overly processed crap. Gotcha.

Margarine is bad this week? So I guess it's back to butter.

Sorry I don't live on a farm these days where I can produce all my food myself. I've got to rely on others for that and hope the government, by and large, enforces the quality and safety standards. Yeah some of our food production methods probably aren't the healthiest but it could be worse. At least I'm not in China or North Korea.

Or you could go crazy and separate that pound first and THEN (I woulda italicized for emphasis instead of bolding, but mobile) freeze it?

I read the label on my bacon the other day for the first time, and it mentioned that it's only good for a week after it's opened. I don't know who lets a package of bacon last a whole week, but it's a good safety tip nonetheless.

Yeah... I pretty much eat the whole pound in one sitting.  A glorious Sunday morning sort of thing: pancakes with butter and syrup, lots of milk, and a pound of bacon.  Well, my dog gets a slice.  Just one; gotta watch her health.

And this is why I only buy bacon once every couple of months.

Leftover meat becomes part of a "gulash" the next day.  After that, any left becomes stew.  Any after that becomes soup.  Never has it gone past four days.

I don't know about just letting it sit there for no reason for four days...seems wasteful.

2014-07-01 01:42:02 AM
No one, except me eats leftovers in my house and I abide by a two day rule, if not properly fridged and then reheated, no eatie.  2 days only, no science experiments in my fridge, thanks.

Knew about the apples though and haven't eaten one for years.  Organics don't seem to crisp as well and the nons are just full of pesticides.  Bananas, though.  No real reason to buy those things organic-thick skinned and still ok to eat as far as I know.  I would love to know about pears and cherries.  Those are my favorites but I just don't dare look them up at this late hour in the fear that it may put me off my shopping tomorrow.

margarine is shiat compared to butter.  treat yourself better.

most brand with nitrite/nitrate free deli meats and bacon make a superior product anyway.  stop buying that bargain crap at Walmart.

Can I come over to your house for breakfast?  I make great pancakes, which no one in my house seems to want and have a cute dog who likes bacon-1 slice only, she's part Pug so prone to fatness.  Strictly platonic breakfast, of course :)

There sure was a lot of chemophobic bullshiat in that article. Boil it down to, "if you don't eat only organic food purchased the same day from your local co-op, you're going to die."

Any article that has a headline worded like "<Number> ____ you should ____ immediately" is for people who are literally too stupid to breathe.  Don't correct me on my user of literally, I'm not being figurative.  The original article was called "2 involuntary motions you should begin repeating immediately."  The quality of the articles went down from there.

Every time you step through your front door, you take chances. If we're just going to be scared of EVERYTHING, why bother? Don't drink the water (tap/bottled), don't shake hands, don't take the subway with less than 3 close buddies with you... whatever. What will they try to have us scared of next?

Sure, my border collie/lab mutt likes pugs and I could use some expert help on my mundane pancakes. And we'll keep things platonic. It won't be easy, you being a redhead and all, but my SO has a good right hook and will correctly blame me not you.

A team of research scientists in some EU nation with more impressive architecture than yours has published a white paper stating that life as we know it is relatively short and that deaths and births have exhibited a 1:1 ratio since history has been recorded.  They then immediately went out for some bacon and double cheese pizza and drank beer and went skydiving.
