Kidd really farked Larry Drew. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some payback from other coaches. Going after an occupied job is one of those unwritten rule things.

Also, I think it would be kinda funny if the Nets gave out the #5 jersey next season.

Who knew that Bucks @ Nets would be must-see TV?

Wow. Trading a coach for draft picks is a coont's hair away from paying a guy not to coach.

Why would you trade for a guy when his current team thinks so little of him?

The clippers trading for Doc is a little different. He had won a championship. Celtics didn't want to pay a championship salary for what they knew would be a few rebuilding years. What track record as a coach does Kidd have?

The Nets' lineup is filled with fossils and they have no draft picks for like five years.

Clearly coaching is the issue.

/I guess picking up picks makes sense.

There is no way Drew would still have a job next year. Worst record in team history and worst record in the NBA? You're not keeping that job.

Kidd tried to go over the GM in Brooklyn in a power grab and failed, that's why Brooklyn wanted him out.

Can't remember where or how the dots are connected, but I think there was some story about how Kidd and the Bucks owner are buddies....so that's why he's going there.

The GM of the Bucks shouldn't assume he'll be there long.

Good luck Kidd.....no veterans in Milwaukee, only young players, never a threat to hit salary cap and Milwaukee isn't likely to draw top-level free-agents.

Loser in all of this: Bucks GM....he'll be tossed under the bus in no time flat.

Can someone explain why Kidd wants to switch to the Bucks? Is that really an upgrade from the Nets?

If the team knew what was good for them, they'd switch back immediately.

Also, he can do whatever he wants. Nobody cares about basketball in Wisconsin, unless it's the Badgers.

Larry Drew was accused of trying the same thing against Mike Woodson, so he isn't going to get much sympathy.

Yeah, but 99% of the time, the idea of not opening pursuing an occupied job involves someone who everyone knows is on their way out. The point is to wait until the job is actually available.

I like that the Nets are siding against Kidd by backing one of the most incompetant GMs of all time. Seriously, if some drunk guy wanted to have power over King, you should do it.

Two 2nd rounders for Kidd is practically robbery, he isn't worth that.

2nd round draft picks four years apart? Meh That is probably fair market value for eastern confrence playoff coach.

The lemonade vendor is section 234 would've garnered atleast that.

Strong move by the Bucks. Only two 2nd round draft picks for an underachieving drunk driving player coach? You gotta do that!

Larry Drew wasn't going to make it.  He was a terrible coach with the Hawks and he's been terrible with the Bucks.

Kidd's record of drunk driving is perfect for fitting right in with the state of Wisconsin.

On one hand, I don't like this move, on the other hand, I guess this is one of those situations where any publicity is good publicity.

I also live in downtown Milwaukee, which is probably the one area of the state (outside of maybe Mequon and WFB) with concentrated Marquette grads. There's plenty of support for the team down here.

Yeah, I was considering having a rooting interest in the Bucks again, since I hadn't cared about the team for the past few years. A week ago, I was about ready to get back on and pay attention to them.

Not after this hiring though. I don't see how a young coach and a bunch of really young players will work well together. Maybe it will....but I'm doubtful. Plus giving up future draft picks? Better hope Giannis and Jabari can be amazing for a few years, otherwise, this is not good at all.

I'm not a huge NBA guy, but second round picks are like lottery tickets. You might end up with a useful player but you probably won't.

For the most part, I'd go with "They gave up second-round picks, not real picks."

/they occasionally work out
//even the ones that work out tend to work out for solid organizations that ask them to fill a specific role, not to become big-time players

Yep--outside of Milwaukee nobody gives a shiat about Marquette.

/And even in Milwaukee it's just a cult of douchebag lawyers & desperate people trying to justify their private school debt load.
//True fact--every single major UW-Madison and Marquette have in common UW is higher-rated. For one-third the cost.

Or guys like Nick Van Exel that slip for 'character' concerns.

But, the overall point that should be taken is that the Nets pretty much said 'take him, he's your problem now.. but we gotta take some compensation'
