Burning Man has loads of light pollution at night, even out by the trash fence. Those observatories would work great out on the playa any time EXCEPT during Burning Man.

This. Kinda seems like you could either build this for cheaper, or put the money to artistic uses that still serve a good purpose...

We aren't going to burn it (that would be kind of cool, though). It will travel between schools (for Science!) during non-burningman periods.
