Do they sell Monster cables?

That's a lot of batteries.

Their cables are outrageously expensive. Last time I ever stepped foot in a Radio Shack was when I needed a 1/8" audio cable to connect my iPod to my car stereo. It was $19.99. That was years ago.

No, thanks.

I have paid their outrageous prices.  Otherwise, it's a bridge toll, 1 1/2 gallons of gas, and an hour (plus) of my time.

To save...oops, the other place is outrageous also.

Yeah, they are pretty expensive but they usually have pretty decent products. I just bought an RCA splitter for $5 from them, it has gold-plated heads, decent wire shielding, and it's awesome. Another thing people don't realize about Radio Shack is that they will price match anything that isn't store brand. Pull up a cheap Amazon listing in front the clerks; you can save yourself the shipping costs and waiting.

Sounds like they hit the cell phone cage in the back room. Remember, the actual retail price on a lot of smart phones nowadays is actually $500+, so that $10k is pretty easy to reach.

It's sad that I forgot about that cage, having worked at RS before.  Without it, I have a hard time seeing $10k worth of stuff worth stealing at least.

"It's believed they had entered the Walmart to get new clothing as a disguise."

"Pack a change of clothes before the robbery? Fark it, we'll improvise!"

This stupid robbery happened in Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin? Not surprised.

The loot consisted of five Radio Shack brand universal cell phone chargers, one Radio Shack brand amplified HDTV antenna, and three replacement iPod cables.

Yeah I mean they could maybe have swiped display models too, but when I was there at least they were mostly dummies on display, and the real ones were kept in back, along with ipods and junk like that.

It kind of puts into perspective just how much money the stuff people casually carry around is worth though.

Be sure you're not buying an "iPod cable to connect to a car stereo" because everything "iPod" anywhere has an inflated price.

I once walked into Best Buy to buy one and they were $20 or more in the iPod section. I walked to the back of the store and found the same thing as a dual-ended mini stereo plug cable for $5.

Walking out with a box of iphones or top end Android phones will get you that 10K. Tack on a box of iPhone 5 accessories and you can double it.

We always had dummies on display, though sometimes one or two real ones (usually new or hot items) behind the counter to demo for customers.

There was a Fark article a while ago talking about how cell phone theft was on the rise, especially with those ecoATM machines popping up in shopping malls, which to most criminals is like the perfect replacement for a discreet fence or sketchy pawn shop.  Apparently purse snatching is being replaced by cell snatching, since it's smaller, easier to grab, easier to hide, and on average worth more money than what you'll find in a purse.

Best Buy does the same, and they don't constantly pester me about getting a phone, minutes, a case, and the warranty for all of the above every three minutes I'm in the store.

CSB: I was on Amazon a few months ago and saw that their price for a Nokia Lumia 520 (AT&T prepaid) was about $20. It was clearly a mistake on Amazon's part, but I printed that sucker out, took it to my local Best Buy Mobile, and--although the manager scratched his head--they honored the price. It has been my primary phone since, and AT&T doesn't seem to give a steaming crap that I don't have a data plan on it.

You know, before I got my iPhone (and later my S4) I had a little Sansa Clip I got on Black Friday for about $20 I think.  I really liked that little thing.  Tiny, good battery life, decent menu, better-than-average format support, built-in FM radio, and rather than using a retarded custom driver it mounted as a bog-standard external drive with the "this is a media device" flag enabled for any compatible software that cared.  Given that I was using XP x64 at the time in the days when very few things were x64 compatible, that was one of its best features for me.  I used the hell out of that little thing.  I really can't complain about the quality of it, not for the money I spent.  It did its job and did it well.

Alas, it met its untimely end when my mom decided to be nice and wash my clothes while I slept over at the parents' place.  Unfortunately she didn't find the Sansa before she threw my sweater in the wash.  We managed to get it out before it was totally trashed, but the battery is completely shot.  It only works while plugged in now.

I thought something was going to happen after their Super Bowl commercial. But no.

They've added a few more inflated Arduino boards and now you can pick up a RasPi starter kit for the low low price of $140.

I did pick up a GSM/GPRS arduino shield from one, but it was on deep clearance discount for $10 versus their list price of $50.

Kind of saddens me  a bit when I see what RS has become. Used to be the go to place for electronics. Hell, back in the day, Tandy Computers were the thing!

Oh and my parents owned a Shack franchise in the 80s. Sales from the store paid the rent and utilities on the store, the repair shop my dad ran in the back brought in the extra income.

Goddamn do I hate that shiat. Radio Shack, Kmart, CVS, I'm pretty sure restaurants are going to start doing that soon. I always lie about my phone number. Switch around two digits, done.

I was in Wendy's for dinner tonight, and they asked for my name (because calling out what my order was is too difficult?). I'm white--neon-white, to be honest--so I told them my name was Abdul. I think next time I'll go with something Japanese.

That's probably how they hit 10k$.  Cell phones' raw cost/value is something like 200-300$ for a smartphone, and even the old stick phones could hit 50$ when not discounted by defraying the cost gradually over a two-year contract.

so... they made off with a crate of phones or something, maybe some of the more expensive toys tossed in.  You could probably hit 10k$ pretty fast.

I had one of those for like three or so years. Simple. Played music right as I started my car (had it plugged in so it would start automatically) through my tape deck.

Then some tweaker around here broke into my car (well, opened the door because I'll just deal with inevitability rather than my windows being smashed or locks getting f*cked up and just not leave valuables outside [kinda]) and stole it. Then probably got more drugs out of the charger. Idiot.

Thing lasted longer than any of my cell phones or electronics costing more than fifty bucks.

I'm going with an RCA model right now that's cheap and works pretty good. Dunno if there's clips for it, I just switch up my playlist, add and erase songs as I go along. It's been through alot of abuse through the last year, but at $25, can't complain. Headphones are a whole other issue though. I blew through a few expensive ones, but a trip to the dollar store for a half decent set every two weeks ain't bad, lol.

Gotta have my headphones for a trip outside. My day isn't complete unless I'm listening to Sacred Gate, Battlerage or Destruction when I'm out getting cigs, coffee or a cheap burger!

I have many fond memories of Radio Shack back in the day, when I'd use it as my main source for electronics components.  Since the era of Digikey, I've never really gone back.  The ones near me don't have nearly the wealth of components I remember from my youth.

They still sell them, you know.  I picked up another one for that same $20, only this time not on sale.  In the unlikely event that your phone doesn't serve that purpose these days, you can relive the convenience of that well appointed bad boy.

I sh*t you not, the most bizarre thing that ever went missing from my car in the almost four years I've lived here were all of my empty Red Bull and Mountain Dew cans. Like the stuff that was in my glovebox is everywhere, the bag of clothes I was going to donate next time I was around a donation box are strewn about and the only f*cking things missing are my laziness in a cylindrical aluminum form.

Either they were that bad-off in life or I got robbed by a hippie.
