Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: So a 100 lb guy and a 350 lb guy are both "problem drinkers" at the same consumption level?
melopene: One of the biggest problems with public health research is that they define social phenomena based upon normative concepts of how the world SHOULD BE, not how the world ACTUALLY IS.In a more objective world, an occasional drinker would be 0 drinks on MOST nights, a light drinker would be the type that has 1-2 drinks per night (wine or beer with dinner, scotch as a nightcap, something along those lines), a moderate drinker would be 2-4 drinks per night (up to the point of the single woman who drinks a bottle of merlot before bed), a heavy drinker would be 4-8 drinks per night, and a hardcore boozehound would be 8+, nightly. Binge drinkers should be considered those that do 8+ drinks in a single evening on occasion, either from a marathon drinking session, karaoke night, Fark party, or any time Jager bombs or flaming shots become involved.
Tr0mBoNe: Two or three fingers a night and a couple hand jobs on the weekend.
v15: shiat. On an average week I drink 86 beers per week. Mixed w/ 4mg Klonopin/day.
uber humper: Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: So a 100 lb guy and a 350 lb guy are both "problem drinkers" at the same consumption level? The 350 lb guy is the heavy drinker.
WTFDYW: Is 8-12 beers a night and a case and a half on weekends considered heavy?/my friend wants to know
NobleHam: So if I have 15 in one night, but only drink once a week, I'm cool?
GRCooper: Then I'm a heavy drinker. By the end of brunch. On Sunday.
dr_blasto: I've never understood the concern with the binge drinker. If you go out once or twice a month and drink 8 to 12 beers, you have a problem and are a "binge drinker?"WTF is wrong with drinking more than 4 beers in a night once a week anyhow?
Magnanimous_J: So my 3 750ml bottles of vodka a week must make me some kind of medical oddity.Or a Russian 4th grader.
fusillade762: The CDC says a drink is 12 ounces of beer (5% alcohol content), 8 ounces of malt liquor (7% alcohol content), 5 ounces of wine (12% alcohol content), or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof (40% alcohol content) distilled spiritsSo I go through about two of these a week:[globeliq.com image 500x500]1.75 Liters. Someone do the math for me and tell me if I'm a heavy drinker or not.
