Tequila and tonic is delicious and super refreshing.  Mix it exactly like you'd mix a gin or vodka and tonic.

Frozen juice triangles. Since this is the food thread, sprinkle some chive over them or some shiat.

The Midwest (Shopko, the Packers hometown store) is really awesome based on drink infusions.
A $30 infusion pitcher from a "this day only" national website notification was $8 in store. Add to the awesome "today's curds" available right across the street.

Shopko rules when bringing in Chinese crap before it really becomes a theme.

If you've got a seeded watermelon and a pulping juicer (i.e. NOT a vitamix), feed the watermelon into the juicer.  It deals with the seeds expertly, and you've got a refreshing drink that goes well with vodak.

What you need to do is get yourself a cooler, preferably one of those with a spigot on the bottom. Pour in a bottle or two of Everclear, depending on the number of people you're having over. Then add in some lemon lime soda - you're going for a 2:1 ratio of soda to Everclear.

Then, dump in a gallon or two of ice cream - you can go with vanilla if you're boring, but I prefer mint chocolate chip. Once again, the amount depends on the number you're serving.

Pour and drink a delicious Green Goddammit, courtesy of naughtyrev.

Fanta strawberry soda with vodak.

It's disgusting, but it makes you not care how hot it is outside.

Glass of water with a couple slices of cucumber in it.

So refreshing.

If you live in the Northeast, then Edy's Ice Cream Outshine bars are the best multi-purpose summer party treat.  They're pure frozen fruit pulp or juice (depending on which fruit).

For kids, just hand them out.

For adults, mash up two of them with a potato masher and add a couple ounces of rum, vodka, whatever.  Mmmmm.  Adult slushies.

Really all you need is a powerful blender and let your creativity lead the way.

I like to snow-ify a pitcher full of ice, and add a little cran-apple juice to make it fluffy half snow cone half slushy kind of thing. Cold, just mildly sweet. Or lemonade, or a little of each.

Also will do it to make a coffee drink for breakfast.. I'll put like half a cup of coffee in there, a cafe latte flavored greek yogurt, a couple of spoons of powdered chocolate flavored ovaltine and some milk and ice, grind it up nice and smooth, easily as tasty as your typical coffee place iced capp.

Purelilac: Lemonade and vodka

I take the glass and run the lemon around the rim then dip the rim in sugar like that other drink that uses salt.

Sometimes we make the lemonade slurry (of sugar and fresh lemon juice) and add seltzer instead of water then add the vodka.

Been there done that....water seems to add friction which is bad for her if you are larger than average.

Probably my favorite drink in the summer outside of beer is a Caesar. Its mostly a midwest take on a bloody Mary but has some added stuff in it that makes it more refreshing. Make sure to throw a pickle in it. Because. Pickle

1 part dark rum
1 part Malibu
1 part Triple Sec

2 parts Frozen Pineapple Juice

Splash of Grenadine

Blend and serve

Recently I did this: Make strong coffee. Steep with a few peppercorns, cloves, a small dried chili and a cinnamon stick. Sweeten to taste, and let cool. Mix with soda water and you have coffee soda. You want the coffee to be pretty sweet before adding it to the soda.

My wife asks me to make White Gazpacho often during the summer. It just uses a little boiling the night before to blanch almonds. It's cool and refreshing. And from Texas Monthly magazine, of all places.

Link

I know it's not alcoholic, so have a cold beer with it.

I also highly recommend running through the sprinkler on a hot day and letting some of the water go in your mouth. It's delicious.

My kids surprised me on Dad Day with a homemade Ice Cream Pie.

A layer of ice cream sandwiches
Topped with chocolate syrup (Fox's U-Bet, thank you very much.)
A layer of your ice cream of choice (I got my favorite, Moose Tracks)
Then a top layer of Cool Whip.

Yum.

Mash a few bannas with brown sugar and cinnamon (or what you like). Freeze and eat. Sooooo good. Also have to give a nod to Luigis Italian ice up thread. That stuff is awesome.

All you need is a nice cold Miller Lite or Coors. Just stay away from Bud since only white trash drink that.

2014-06-26 05:22:04 PM
There's this fruit punch my parents make for 4th of July that's pretty good.
Not much to it:
2-liter bottle of ginger ale
One of those big cans of pinapple juice (the kind you need to an opener to poke holes in to open it.)
Can of frozen Orange Juice Concentrate.

Just pour it all in a punchbowl. When the OJ concentrate has melted, it's ready to serve. Add ice and you're done.

This I did not know, since I wouldn't order miller by choice but hey if we are in the back yard and you hand me one I will drink it .

Korean food has great side dishes of cool or room temperature veggies, so go with that.  Pickled cabbage, parboiled then sautéed watercress with garlic, and the rice cooker won't heat up the kitchen too much.  Add to that a nice piece of fresh wild salmon seared in the skillet, and that's dinner.

Cocktail?  Gotta be the Paloma, tequila and grapefruit soda, with a slice of lime.

Mojito with mint straight from the garden and that gin refresher thing (forgot name) with basil and cucumber from the garden. Only use real limes, of course. Good fark food thread, everyone.

I've become quite fond of Shandy's.

1 part quality ale (or Genny Cream. It's all good)
1 part quality lemonade

I haven't had a bottled shandy yet that didn't taste like beer and furniture polish. Mix your own.
