It's Arizona.  Let me guess.  They're required for voter ID and they were only issued to black and brown people.

Mrs Eddie Adams from Torrance had a CA drivers' license with 00000 for the ZIPcode.

When we moved to NY, the DMV managed to get that right.... and listed her First/Middle name as E. A. instead of her full name. After getting harassed by TSA last year, we now book her plane tickets that way and she breezes through.

She was going to go to DMV to get it fixed, but we're afraid that they'll find a way to make things worse.

What's the deal lately whenever people feel slighted they run to the local newspaper or TV station? Can't they attempt to resolve things through the proper authorities first?

I miss AZ's drivers license policy. It was good for 30 years.. if not 32. It was crazy, and nobody from other states would believe it.

dustman81: suburbanguy: What the fark is wrong with all these states?  It shouldn't be that difficult.  Here in Ohio (Ha! Ha!), they print the license right there in the BMV.  They take your picture with a digital camera.  You get to see it before it's printed.  You review your license before you leave.  You're printing a license with a computer printer, not having a felon pound out vanity license plates.  What makes it take 2 weeks?

Yep. I renewed mine a couple of weeks ago. Walk in, give old license to clerk, take eye test, verify info, sign a couple of forms, pay fee, take picture, sign digital pad, wait for license, look to make sure everything is OK, walk out with new license. All told, 15 minutes from start to finish.

That's how they do it here in Louisiana also, although at my most recent renewal last year, there was no mention of an eye test, even though I was sitting right next to the machine.

It's been more than a few years since I left, but that's the way it was in AZ when I lived there.  They printed it up right there and handed it to me, and I got to go home with a shiny new license the same day.  I thought it was weird when I moved to TX and was handed a paper Temporary License and had to wait two weeks to get my actual license in the mail.
