Very suspicious that the stepmother won't take a polygraph. No word about her reaction to the boy being found. Makes me wonder what she said to make the kid go into hiding.

That's why dad named you Dirt instead of Nunamaker!

2014-06-26 12:33:12 AM
What's his FARK handle?

2014-06-26 01:06:55 AM
Ah, balloon boy the sequal.

I suppose it's good he was found alive and not wrapped in newspaper and stuffed in a suitcase in the basement.

Did he wreck his sister's centerpiece?

2014-06-26 02:15:12 AM
But at least the cops weren't looking for him, so there's that.

This appears to be a repeat.

Missing boys found in their own basements trifecta in play...?

It appears to be, but it's not. Detroit vs Salt Lake City.

For which fact all the dogs in the area are greatly relieved.

Two missing 3 year olds found in their own basements in one day, what are the chances?

2014-06-26 02:25:32 AM
Oh nevermind... he was 12.

They still get a book deal and an appearance on Oprah, right?

There's nothing suspicious about it. I'd never take one of those things either. It is junk science.

The boy was quoted as saying the following.

2014-06-26 02:30:32 AM
I feel like hiding in the basement sometimes.

Last place to look in Detroit eh? it's the first place they look in Austria.

2014-06-26 02:33:06 AM
Ok but how many dogs were shot in the search?

2014-06-26 02:33:38 AM
How was he getting food and water during that week?

He's 12, so I guess he was sneaking around the house or crawling to a friends house at night

Pfft. There's Farkers who have been down there for 20 years.

As long as he did not dieded, then we can all sleep soundly at 3 a.m. EDT.

I thought this was a dream, or a figment of intoxicated, insomnia delirium.

I'm so glad he is safe.

Not a Rickroll, but it is a letdown because I did want to hear from the boy since he is the one who knows why he did it.

how many dogs had to die this time? 2? 4? 100?

cops are dog killing monsters...i just like to state the obvious

Some people value their privacy.
"If you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to hide" is shiatty reasoning.

Ambivalence: Ah, balloon boy the sequal.

I suppose it's good he was found alive and not wrapped in newspaper and stuffed in a suitcase in the basement.

Balloon Boy was completely fabricated by the father.
This father is in tears of joy that his son is found.
If you see more the same than different, well it just reminds me of BSABSVR people. The real headscratcher is not a word from the boy how this happened.

That may be true. But absent any words from the boy, and given that the father did so no problem, I am suspicious of the stepmother.

This is turning into a bit of a Cluedo game

Will it be a big con, which is what it seems like

Or has Bart been hiding out from his evil stepmother all this time

Or will it be some unexpected outcome?

From the "it's always in the last place you look" files: Detroit boy missing for over a week found alive in parents' basement

Well yeah, why would you keep looking for him after you found him?

Are their car keys still missing though?

I wouldn't be surprised if she intentionally crashed it, what with the depression from her son being kidnapped and all.

So you don't think being deaf and blind had anything to do with the crash?

A friend of mine's kid sent us into a panic once when he suddenly decided to play hide and go seek with the grown ups without mentioning it.

We're searching the neighborhood. He's hiding under the bed.

However, hiding for a week seems excessive.

http://m.clickondetroit.com/news/detroit-boy-charlie-bothuell-has-bee n -missing-since-june-16/26657470

I can't find the article that states it but according to the news this morning police found the boy's blood in his bedroom and on a pvc pipe kept in the home.

The father admits to "disciplining" the boy and keeping him on a strict exercise routine. It is likely abuse charges will be filed against him.

Detroit homes with secret tunnels are worth twice as much as regular houses.

Everything you are looking for is found in the last place you look. That is, unless you keep looking for things after you have found them, in which case, you're an idiot.

Except that polygraphs are complete BS and just as easily cast doubt on an innocent person.

2014-06-26 08:12:17 AM
Now that the boy is found can the cops still pick a dog at random to execute.

I mean, they SHOULD have done it before he was found, but do we really need to be sticklers for a rule like that?

It's nothing more than intimidation - the cops can use the threat of using it to get a 'voluntary' confession. Not everyone realizes it's junk science.and not admissible as evidence.

It's the same kind of BS as using those "drug sniffing dogs" which show positives based on the dog's handlers suspicions, not what the dog can actually detect.  It just scares the suspect into submission.
