This just goes to show that, if you don't have regulations and laws to prevent it, people are going to poop in the hallway.

I dunno. Sometimes it's a race to the can. I think we've all probably been on the losing side.

Cantor told employees about multiple inappropriate incidents, including "an individual placing feces in the hallway" near a restroom

Happened at my work too once. Right outside the restroom on the carpet.

Methinks employee morale at this particular office is rather low.

That's one way to protest the low-flow toilets, I suppose.

This sort of thing happens so frequently when it comes to federal and state/local facilities you would be surprised. There is a large court system in the Houston area that bought chairs for their employees, with the criteria that it must be 1.) Cleanable 2.) Plastic 3.) Anti-Microbial 4.) Heavy-Duty because of how often there are issues with fluid leakage. By fluid leakage I mean large women taking shiats in the chair and then leaving it for the next unfortunate person because they are embarrassed or lazy. Period blood and urine are even more common occurrences. It is pretty impressive about this being in the hallway, but it isn't entirely unheard of or that surprising to me.

when i was at university, freshman year, on the third floor of the dorm i was in, a phantom pooper used to decorate an entire stall with some of the most explosive genius you've ever seen.

Combining my grandfather's reaction to his gout medication with the slogan from a local grocery store where he had "an issue", we got this:

"There's a pile in every aisle at Sentry"

The EPA consulted a workplace violence expert, John Nicoletti, who said the poop-related incidents were "very dangerous"
I don't know what surprised me more, that a workplace violence expert is a thing, or that he classified a poop in the hallway as "very dangerous", the same level as working in a prison.

I worked for the EPA and where I worked anyway the people were smart enough to:
- not need a "workplace violence expert" to tell them that pooping in the hallway is bad
- not poop in the hallway

Bureaucrats. i.e. lumps of flesh the government employs as imps to make your daily life a little bit more like a living hell.

...this does, at least, makes the time one of my coworkers set a fish head aflame in the break room microwave seem a bit less horrible, in comparison.

2nd Flr Hallway of the San Mateo Cnty Transit District HQ bldg (called SamTrans in San Bruno, CA) is open to the public to allow bus/train riders to purchase monthly passes; which includes any one who wants to come in to ask about prices, etc...

Guess what has happened more than one time, which has forced the Bldg Maint Mgr to have a human liquids/waste clean up kit on site; and a special outside carpet cleaner vendor who has a human contamination health certificate! PS: it is not dog waste... although that has also happened!

Oh the Humanity; Public bldg's/ bus stops/ train stations/ etc... the Great Unwashed means something; and it is not pleasant...

/Why South of Market District in San Fran ( called SOMA ) and downtown Berkeley smell like poop/pee!
// Don't go crawling around in the Guadalupe River Bed in downtown San Jose, CA either!

A few years ago a custodian found a trash can in the bathroom at work with wet, watery shiat with some forms that were obviously used as TP. Since I was security at the time they called my boss about it and he informed me.

I noticed the trash can didnt match any others in thr bathroom and thought "ive seen those in the NOC." I went into the NOC and found a stack of forms out of place right next to where a trash can used to be. Didnt take sherlock holmes to figure that one out. Dude working alone on 3rd shift clearly couldn't make it to the bathroom across the hall (note, poop can was found in bathroom across the building)

Seeing as how he had the courtesy to not shiat himself nor the floor we decided it wasn't worth any action, although for a while I tried to figure out how to tell the pooper to toss it all in the dumpster if it hapoened again.

A young cat can learn to reliably use a litter box in a couple of days.

It takes a human at least a year to learn the same thing.

and all too often we seem to forget the lesson

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon... you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices, and I tell you, people do that all the time.

I'm not saying that the EPAs work is unimportant.  I am saying that it is possible, that while it has an important job, it could be viewed by the government as more of a "make work" agency that will hire just about anyone.

Next time be a bit more careful on the "o" in "job". It's the target I use for flicking boogers at, and if you make it all lopsided it puts my aim off.

Well, due to the nature of my job/profession I've worked in a farkton of offices over the years with a metric farkton of different people. Disgruntlement can get dangerous.

CSB
One office had a serial men's room seat pisser. Like frequent and extreme, like twirling around in a circle extreme. So no way this was run of the mill too lazy to lift seat or wipe it.

So after some detective work & chance, another guy figured out who it was and confronted him. Piss guy stabs him.

Moral of story: co-workers so far gone they're pissin' & poopin' all over may pose a health threat in more than one way
