Hello, it's called celebrating.

2014-06-25 05:08:35 PM
He got an award, got trashed and naked, and now he'll get a paid vacation. Sounds to me like he had a pretty good day.

2014-06-25 05:09:46 PM
PTSD is a biatch.

2014-06-25 05:09:52 PM
Was it a naked drunk award? Cause if so then he was doing the right thing.

2014-06-25 05:11:41 PM
Maybe he has some kind of depression or something.

"Police Combat Cross"

Now there's a wholesome message.

As someone who tried to drunkenly enter the wrong hotel room last week, I think subby is a dirty whore.

2014-06-25 05:17:18 PM
Should have just smoked weed, he would have never gone berserk.

Sybarite: Hello, it's called celebrating.

^This.

He got hammered and did something hammered people do: wander naked.  It happens.  It shouldn't have been that big of a deal unless he really tried to hurt someone.  He "roughed her up" sounds like he reacted to she screaming woman (this is justified, btw) attacking him in his disoriented state.

Yes, he got hammered.  Yes, he caused a ruckus.  But I'm willing to bet his Lieutenant bought at least one of those drinks for him.  Whoever was responsible for him after the party should have paid better attention to him.

Seriously, let he who has never wandered about nakedly drunken cast the first stone

He makes one little mistake and everyone jumps down his throat.

At least he was in an apartment at all,  give him partial credit.

He's up for the Civilian Assault Award as well.

He should have been stopped and frisked.

If it happens during a drunken stupor then it's ok. It's called the Rob Ford rule.

Really hard at the "friends" who let you do it.

What if the award was for not shooting any dogs for, say an entire year?  He'd feel pretty stupid then I suppose.

Haha True dat. Unfortunately I'm going to have to put my hatred for police on the back burner and side with that statement.

I'm sure there's an award for killing the most dogs, but you know what they say, if it's easy everyone is doing it.  Not killing dogs is difficult.

Drunk out of your mind in your underwear in some random apartment is no way to go through life, officer...especially when the mayor just gave you an award a few hours ago but it's still better than assault, battery, fraud, drinking or drugging while working, traffic stop rape, or whatever other real crimes a cop can get up to followed by "I'm a cop so don't tell anyone because no one will believe you and I'll come back and beat the shiat out of you."

If he really "roughed her up" then that's a problem. But otherwise, like someone said above, his friend needed to keep the drunk locked in his apartment until morning. That's the only real crime here.

For most police anyway.

Eh, the award dates to 1934 and is awarded for those who "...perform an act of extraordinary heroism while engaged in personal combat with an armed adversary under circumstances of imminent personal hazard to life."

While I share the opinion that many modern US police forces have become over-militarized, the fact remains that they have been paramilitary organizations since the end of the Civil War. The name of that particular award sounds a little harsh, but given its age and the circumstances it is given under, I don't think it's too big a deal.

I'm half naked and drunk in an apartment 6 out of 7 days of the week, subby. It's a fine way to go through life, IMO.

/not a stranger's apartment, though

So cops (or indeed anyone) are expected to live lives of monastic austerity after they win some kind of award? There's going to be a lot of Marines who are gonna be really unhappy to hear that...

In the 70's and 80, maybe even 90, people did DWI's. Police were sometimes willing to sometimes cut people breaks. Now it is unusual for people to be cut breaks, not just for DWI's, but whatever the incident was.

Cops still tend to get breaks, little people don't. Broken windows, non quota systems, revenue enhancement and such. I don't expect police to live like Mormons, but it would be nice if there was consistency between what breaks police are given and what breaks little people are given.

To rephrase, what would happen that drunk person in a strangers house in his underwear if he wasn't a cop?

2014-06-25 07:44:39 PM
I misread that as him being drunk out of his mind in his underwear in his own apartment after winning an award from the mayor and couldn't understand what the problem could be.

He should be fired.
Anyone else would have been arrested and charged with public drunkenness and breaking and entering.

There has always been a dual justice system, and it has always been wrong.

People notice now because it historically was "minorities and other undersirables" v "Fine upstanding citizens" but now it is 'Everyone else" v "Elite and Law Enforcement."

It's about time.  It was wrong in the former and is wrong in the latter.

And why wouldn't I be surprised if this guy turned out to have a very high track record of busting citizens for "dope" (authoritarians descriptive term for weed)...
