One word: pointless.

2014-06-25 03:33:44 PM
I've been using beer in my homemade pizza dough for about 10 years...   Just because.

/Porter gives the crust a nice, deep brown color.

What sort of person would do that to a pizza?

"I didn't taste the beer, it mixed in well," said Cathy Ahern, who tried the beer-infused buffalo chicken pizza."

Ah. So someone who doesn't like pizza.

I thought beer was 5/6 of a bread dough already? Just add more flour?

D'Boni's pizza in Escalon has been doing this for years.  They also started using zip-lock baggies full of ice in the beer pitchers since the late 80's to keep the beer cold without watering it down.

Buffalo chicken pizza is awesome.  You can like traditional naples-style pizza, NY style pizza, buffalo pizza, gourmet pizza/flatbread dealies... it's not one or none.

I've been to places where a frozen water balloon keeps the pitcher of macrobrew chilly.

High class places. That I returned to.

This, and the 'gross zip lock bag in my beer?' One too.

Oh and 'not new' and most of the posts in this thread.

You've said it all guys, well done.

Haven't seen many 'high class places' serve pitchers of beer.

And again, typically if you're getting a pitcher you're sharing beer with 3, 4 friends.. which means the pitcher is pretty much empty as soon as it hits the table.

High class pitchers of macrobrew with frozen balloons is me aiming for sarcasm.

But drinking in Florida or AZ, two guys on pitcher style - the frozen balloon helps.

I'm making pizza for the entire town on Friday in a wood fired pizza oven and I'm going to ask the ladies if we can try this sometime. I'm thinking a growler of beer from a local micro house, 10 #s of king Arthur, 8 oz. olive oil, 6 oz. sugar, and 4 oz.salt.

Pop it in the hobart, and give it a spin.

I bet it will be marvelous.

Seems like a waste of beer, if you ask me.

Wouldn't it also take up room in the pitcher where the beer is supposed to go?

They give you the pitcher, glasses and the frozen balloon in a glass. Once beer is poured, add balloon.
