A blog dedicated to cars and car fans is reporting that a very expensive and rare icon got wrecked.  This is exactly the type of things they should be reporting.  I fail to see the need for a greenlight on Fark, however, other than an unfortunate last name.

I stand corrected.  I originally read about this on Jalopnik.  I didn't realize this particular article was from boston.com.  Sounds like a slow news day.

"Police say the 650-horsepower car began to fishtail on the northbound entrance ramp, struck the a bridge wall, then spun across three lanes of traffic and crashed into the center divider. "

The problem was almost certainly power on oversteer.  Either he was trying to drift or simply didn't realize the back end would break loose when you accelerate too quickly.  Traction control doesn't protect against stupid.

It's not like he's going to be out anything.  The dealership's insurance is going to pick this up.

It handles great at 150, but without downforce, it's a pricey skateboard.

First thing I thought of when reading the headline is: cue the picture of that ugly guy with the huge nose driving a car with that screaming black guy in the passenger's seat. Glad to see I wasn't wrong, but I expected it to be at the top.

/doesn't give a Fux what movie that's from.

Car dealership: Uh, that technician didn't have permission to drive that car at that particular time, so it's not our fault, and as such we are not responsible for damages. You can try and sue the minimum wage tech (whom we fired BTW) if you like. Good luck with that.

czei: The problem was almost certainly power on oversteer.  Either he was trying to drift or simply didn't realize the back end would break loose when you accelerate too quickly.  Traction control doesn't protect against stupid.

I seriously doubt the technician was trying to drift and I also find it hard to believe that a certified Ferrari tech would have that much of a problem with power over or reeling it in if things got out of line.  Like I posted earlier, the Enzo is known to have some really bad handling, including snap oversteer.  The aero also isn't generating a lot of downforce until the car is over 100 mph.

I mean, it's possible, but I'm betting the car is more to blame here.

I don't know. I figure his Aston Martin Tech buddy asked him to show what it can do and things got out of hand.

That depends on what it transforms into.  If it can't transform, then somebody made a car that looks like it should transform into something but can't.

I've seen that car driving around Stamford. It is indeed a pretty car.

Oh, BTW...that tech was most certainly making upwards of $30 per hour or more...this is Stamford, Ct, he is a Ferrari tech, as opposed to a garage monkey in Pickayune, Idaho.

Idiot driver in Connecticut? Color me surprised...

This seems to happen pretty frequently. The only unusual thing about this is that it was at a dealership and not a restaurant or hotel with valets. The disappointing thing is that the employees will get fired and nothing else will happen to them. The dealership will then try every trick in the book to avoid paying the full value of the car. This will cause the owner a considerable headache and lawyers will probably get involved.

Wait until his wife and mother to his children, Mother Fux, hears about this.  She's known far and wide for the sturdiness of her box spring.

Even if the car was prone to snap oversteer, that simply means the guy panicked and lifted in a turn while driving too fast.  It was either too much throttle or too little, but either of those situations only happen when you're going too fast, and could happen in any car.  The reason you see accidents like this in sports cars is people, i.e.technicians with access to a rare car, try to "see what the car can do" and push it past the limits of their driving ability.

Any car will spin if you go too fast on a curve and lift, its just most people don't push their sedans to the limit.
