Why not? He was right about everything else.

2014-06-25 02:56:49 AM
Does he have knowledge that he's not sharing or is he just pulling shiat from his ass?

I'm sure it's the latter but the way he talks sometimes I wonder...

We choose to flee to our bunkers in the next decade and do the cowardly thing, not because they are a threat but because we are scared.

You suspect Dick is leaking?

Perhaps Dick was just warning us that he's going on another hunting trip soon.

I haven't seen such a panicky Dick since Tom Arnold first saw Roseanne naked.

He should know, he's planning it.  Again.

FTA:  ...he expects another terrorist attack on U.S. soil within the next 10 years.

So Cheney is saying don't elect any Republicans in the next ten years because of what happened last time on their watch?

Makes sense to me.

Just who is he financing.
He has gotten pretty rich from the last wars started after 9/11 it seems like a sound financial investment.

He's been predicting that every election year since 2004. It's basically his way of telling people "Vote Republican, or else."

Remember, someone that needed a heart transplant probably died so Dick could cut in line and continue spouting this fear mongering shiat for ten more years.

Yep, THIS. From McCain's bastardized Beach Boys to Romney's pledge to protect Israel by destroying Iran, it is clear that the GOP is all about total, constant war, wherever and whenever they have the chance to make it happen.

Hell the fark no, we shouldn't ignore him. This asshole cheerled the biggest foreign policy clusterfark the U.S. has been involved with in 50 years, costing the country a trillion dollars and 4-thousand citizens I guarantee are more deserving to be sucking oxygen than him.

These are the people that half the country look up to. To ignore history is to repeat it.

BSABSVR! Cheney is still a majorly influential voice among the Republican base in the United States. Calling him irrelevant and shutting down conversation as such is, at best, a way to try to minimize and stifle discussion about the harm he has done to the United States, both domestically and internationally.

Also, given that everything in the world keeps getting bigger than ever, he's not exactly making a risky bet.

Cheney continued: "You can imagine what would happen if somebody could smuggle a nuclear device, put it in a shipping container and drive it down the beltway outside Washington, D.C."

"They could perhaps smuggle the device in through Tampa, the Port Authority there is sub-standard and the guards can be bribed. I would recommend using a shipping container labeled "Granite Countertops"...nice and boring, and allows for really big containers. Keep to the main highways, you'll draw more suspicion if you try to make your way on back-roads, but be sure that you have a lot of legit cargo with you for the weigh stations or any random checkpoints. Try to time your trip so that you hit DC by 5am, in the summer on a weekday. You avoid rush hour and can get your truck down by the National Mall, and you'll get not only the locals going to work, but the tourists who are trying to get some sightseeing in before the heat of the day."

He's right, actually - terrorism is a tactic, and it is now a reality of modern life. Religious fanatics, political zealots, butthurt nationalists, fomenters of international intrigue, organized criminals, and lone nutjobs are all going to utilize the methods that large, dense populations and powerful technology have created.

It's going to remain a pretty minor cause of death, too, and I suggest that all the "conservatives" who tell us not to be upset about 30,000 gun deaths a year should just not get upset about it according to the same philosophy.

I agree.  The stupid stuff he says should be broadcasted and then discredited with reason and logic while making Cheney an object of ridicule.

Agreed.  I don't harbor any optimistic delusions that we will finally bring him up for war crimes (though to see Megyn Kelly call him out was a nice little treat), but his decision to stay in the spotlight, and to keep discussing Iraq, will hopefully keep Republican warmongering fresh in the notoriously short attention span of the American public.

2003, Cheney & company says we have to invade Iraq to prevent a mushroom cloud from blooming over DC.  End result: a few thousand American soldiers killed, a few hundred thousand Iraqi deaths, and no WMD's to show for it.

2014, Cheney again wars of nuclear bombs going off in D.C.

Let's get the answer to the really important question here: where is he trying to get people killed for nothing this time?

STFU you wolf-crying cock.

That pretty much goes for a lot of right-wing leaders. I find it funny that with all the bootstrappy ruggedness symbolism which conservatives try to project, the majority of their leaders are a swell suited as domestic farm raised turkeys to survive in the "wild".

2014-06-25 07:31:45 AM
On September 11, 2001, Dick Cheney wet himself in fear.  Scaring a coward is a terrible thing,  because the coward will dedicate his life to eradicating the perceived threat.

Okay, so the "wetting himself" is conjecture, but he went off the rails after 9/11.  Based on his actions, it would appear that was the only time in his life that this particular child of affluence was ever mortally afraid,  and he left his ration thought module on the floor someplace when the Secret Service rushed him off to a safer place.

2014-06-25 07:41:24 AM
For the foregoing reasons, we conclude that the Fifth and Eigth Amendments do not extend to alien enemy combatants held abroad. Moreover, we conclude that different canons of construction indicate that generally applicable criminal laws do not apply to the military interrogation of alien ulawful combatants held abroad. Were it otherwise, the application of these statutes to the interrogation of enemy combatants undertaken by military personnel would conflict with the President's Commander-in-Chief power.

We further conclude that CAT [UN Convention against Torture] defines U.S. international law obligations with respect to torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. The standard of conduct regarding torture is the same as that which is found in the torture statute, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2340-2340A. Moreover, the scope of U.S. obligations under CAT regarding cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment is limited to conduct prohibited by the Eighth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Customary international law does not supply any additional standards.

Finally, even if the criminal prohibitions outlined above appplied, and an interrogation method might violate those prohibitions, necessity or self-defense could provide justifications for any criminal liability.

He knows because Democrats are in charge; they are so terrible at foreign policy terrorism becomes worse every time they are in office and is driven back to the edge of annihilation once Republicans get back in office. Why, Iran was contained and had no chance of developing nuclear weapons during the Bush administration and now their nuclear program is running rampant with Obama having no power to stop it.

I agree.  Especially the way they tried to blame the last small scale incident of right-wing terrorism on anything but the right wing media culture, which is fanning the flames of anger in the crazies. (I am referring to the LasVegas CiCi's Pizza/Walmart tragedy.)  They basically are encouraging the crazies to take action against their own nation due to some demented vision of reality spoon fed to them.

For all the screaming about how the moderate Muslims need to denounce the extremists and contain them, the political right is turning a blind eye and even empowering their fringe extremists to take "2nd Amendment SolutionsTM" against their own country.  It's just a matter of time.  Especially if we only focus on Islamic extremism and ignore the right-wing extremism due to political pressure from the right.

The reason he said Iraq had WMDs was because he sold them those weapons back in the 80's.

The reason he's saying that the US will be attacked by a nuke is... follow the money.
