Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I would love to do this. Regularly jumped/dove off 40ft piers and lower bridges into rivers all thru my teen years.

Shhh, my mom still doesn't know.
And it's 40some yrs later.

Holy crap that looks like fun. Although I cringe at the though of the approach being nothing more than a sheet of plastic over solid rock.

I'm more than a little envious of them over this; I'm literally too poor to take my kids to the water park right now. That looks like Ivy League Spring break stuff.

Why are they throwing detergent on.  Shouldn't water alone be enough?

All fun and games until the first neck is broken.

/then who will they sue?

I used to love going to the quarries in Bloomington, IN for cliff jumping.  I never did the 65-footer (rooftop), but I did see it done.  40 ft. was my limit.

Can you imagine going off that slide at an angle half way. Freakin' road rash....

/looks fun though

The makers of the commercial they were just in?

Angela Lansbury's Merkin: Why are they throwing detergent on.  Shouldn't water alone be enough?

Detergent makes the slide more slippery. Likely they didn't have a huge water supply.

These videos drive me nuts. From the first cut shot I'm trying to figure out what they are selling.

Yeah. It's more than a sheet of plastic though. Looks like a gym mat sort of padding.

They don't have a continuous water flow. I would think it could get squeaky without the soap.

Two Dogs Farking: This week, on Rich Dicks...

I'm waiting to find out where the advertising angle for this is.  You don't just have that type of filming crew around and scripted antics for nothing.

This is the fourth or fifth video like this I've seen on Fark. There are probably more. They all are very slick productions. Expensive equipment and permissions. Young AMWs. Cool editing. Exciting activity. Not sure what they are selling but someone needs to pay the bills.

A possible name for the genre might be "Slickumentary" or "First World Squandered Shorts"

They might just have money themselves and are another example of the "let's try to make something that goes viral and get famous" mentality. That's ok tho, it's their money.

I like both of your titles.
And I want to use that slip n slide!

We ginned up some slip 'n slides back in the day using only construction plastic. One of the issues we ran into is that the water  tended to flow channels on the plastic and leave dry areas. The soap helped spread it out a little and also make it more slippery.

As long as you didn't let the soap dry out, either.

I love how everybody thinks quality camera work and editing are somehow expensive now. This shiat can be done on something as simple as my Sony Nex-5 and edited on any good desktop computer. Hell, it can even be done by people in film school. And whatever else is missing can be rented relatively reasonably.

Doesn't mean that this particular video isn't expensively made, just that a lot of Gee, Wow! doesn't cost as much as you people think it does.

I agree on all points. I read somewhere that this generation thinks it is fifteen days from being discovered and given a show. This would be the way to do that.

Mine was cliff jumping.  I can recall the conversation with my dad.  Where are you going?  Cliff jumping with some friends at Taylor's Falls on the WI side.  Bu bu but ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL CLIFF JUMPER!?!?!!?  Chill out dad, it's like a 40 foot drop.  I'll be ok.

Crappy techno music? Check.
Lots of Gap-ad extras standing around, high-fiving, bro-hugging, laugh-and-point-ing? Check.
Packaged/produced awesomeness?  Check.

And if I got an invitation to join, I'd buy my ticket in a second. Regardless of what you think of the filmmaker, he has fun ideas.
