Mikey1969: John Turturro is farking AWESOME!

[forgottenfilmcast.files.wordpress.com image 748x423]

He was definitely a huge part of why the first two Transformers movies were as watchable as they are (the second one being far less so than the first, and I never saw 3 so no opinion given regarding that), even if he was hardly a pull towards seeing any of them. Still, hugely underrated character actor who is a delight in damn near everything he's been in is hugely underrated.

I thought the first Transformers movie was OK, but Turturro showing up made it actually worth watching again. He has a great range, but my favorite is always when he does comedy.

And he may have been the first actor that I labeled as 'underrated', especially because so many people don't know what his name is, but can usually recall half a dozen roles of his that they absolutely love...

If it were up to me I'd give him a panel show in a heartbeat.

The only thing I'd like to maybe see with TBL is some sort of "prequel" that is just called "The Dude", would take place in the 1-2 years before "TBL"... have new actors for the main characters that it will be focusing on (The Dude, Walter, Donny, the Landlord, Jesus, Liam... although if Tuturo and the real Liam want to be themselves, maybe they could be made to look somewhat younger?... the other characters wouldn't "exist" in the Dude's universe in a prequel obviously, they'd be dealing with other people in their "adventures".. other bowling teams, etc)... and with new actors, if it blows, then it can be easily forgotten.

Considering we are getting "Better Call Saul", I'd think AMC would take a stab at this.

Oh yeah, and I'd include "The Stranger", in only that I imagine he is some sort of "Hobbes"/"Wake Up, Sir" imaginary character to the Dude anyway, so, I'd imagine he'd have come to the dude previous to "TBL".

Joel Coen was even firmer: "I don't think it's going to happen ... I just don't like sequels."

At least someone in Hollywood has some common f*cking decency to state this out loud.

I love Turturro, but I'm sorry to say, his story suggestion does sound like a dreadful idea.  Now, I watched an old TV movie the other night, and thought over and over what a kick-ass remake the Coens could make:  Murder in Coweta County (starred Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith).

For no good reason:   a guinea pig that looks like John Turturro.

Given that Maude was preggo with The Dude's kid at the end of TBL, I'd think there was potential for a "Little Lebowski" sequel- something along the lines of a kid who has grown up in the lap of luxury in a mansion with a private bowling alley in the basement going on a journey with his friends to "find himself" by finding out about the dad he never knew, and the only thing he knows about his dad is that he was a legendary bowler called The Dude.

FTA: Joel Coen was even firmer: "I don't think it's going to happen ... I just don't like sequels."

Too bad those principles don't extend to remakes because the Coen brothers abomination called The Ladykillers should have found them directing dog food commercials for the rest of their careers.

Talk about misleading my favorite website headlines!

FTFH: "John Turturro wants to reprise his 'Big Lebowski' role as The Jesus in a new film next year."

FTFA:  "John Turturro, who wants it, talks to us incessantly about doing a sequel about his (bowler) character Jesus," Ethan Coen said.  "He even has the story worked out, which he's pitched to us a few times, but I can't really remember it... No, I don't see it in our future." Joel Coen was even firmer: "I don't think it's going to happen ... I just don't like sequels."

So, basically Turturro thinks that a BL spinoff would be a great idea, and the Coen brothers replied, "Well, that's just like your opinion, man."

I know that is the other "spinoff" of the movie that is always mentioned.... and obviously you've be able to have the current day actors in that one, since the kid could be 17-18 now, and the actors would be their current ages..... I guess I'd like to see something that includes Donnie again, especially if they could find someone to do a good Buschemi.

Those 8 year olds would actually be 31 years years old now subby.  Lebowski was a period piece, remember?

Older than that really. Walter says that Jesus served 6 months at Chino for exposing himself (to one eight year old), and that when he moved to Hollywood he had to go door to door blah blah blah.

Add the time for a trial, the 6 month sentence, and the unknown amount of time he has lived in Hollywood (and whatever time may have passed between being released and moving to Hollywood), you have to imagine another year at the very least.

As Jesus would attest to though, the best thing about exposing yourself to twenty-four year olds is that there are 20 of them.

The Jesus worked because he was a small, side character.

And because he had a normalish looking fat redneck partner. I always wondered how they met and got along.

I think a Big Lebowski sequel should have a guy to replace Buscemi as a replacement for Donny. Name the character "Ronny" just so Walter can use the same dismissive shouting.

And this time, they should have Walter  intentionally  say "This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps!"

Wat? No.
I feel he set the bar for everything wrong with those movies.  Nothing that character did or accomplished was funny, plus it was completely out of sync with the tone of the rest of the movie.  His removal would ONLY make them better, but still unwatchable.

At least Jesus was a completely different character from any other he has played, so much so it was a long time before I realized who the actor was.

/Transformer fan
/Not a Turturro fan.
