If they're Republican they're still climbing the ladder of success and not worth getting outraged about.

If they're Democraps they are still Class Traitors, so outrage would be in order.

That'll make them easy to manipulate. Good job.

I'm sure that this will sweep in a new era of bipartisan cooperation.

FTFA:

The reports are far from exhaustive. Wealth is disclosed in broad ranges, and some assets - like a personal home - are not included in the filing.

So overall it's probably bullsh*t. I do find it rather odd that these people aren't millionaires. I'm not a millionaire but I'm also not anywhere close to 50. My guess is, all those whores are expensive.

Then again we're talking about the morons who run the federal government.

Yeah, wtf?  I just looked at the Open Secrets profiles used, and the margin of error is almost 400% per item, even for the items they DO have.  Seriously, they can't even pick an order of magnitude to stick with.  He might have tens of thousands of dollars.  Or he might have hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Who knows?  It's not like it's their job to know that...oh, right, it is.  Supposedly.  What is the point even having this information?

Oh boo-hoo.  The illegal under the table perks they'll be getting alone puts their standard of living comfortably into the ten-millionaire range.

Better to have lobbyists to buy you anything you want than to have the money to buy it yourself.

Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, became wealthy, as a Senator, and the press never asks why, because it's all right 'cause he's a Democrat...and Democrats are the greatest people EVAR!

Most high end politicians don't seem to get wealthy in office it's on the back end they receive their payoff in the form of directorships on various boards, ridiculously high paying speaking gigs, consultancy gigs etc.

One of the things I've always liked about Biden is that he seems to have bucked this trend.

Unless drugs are their thing, and the lobyists aren't willing to go THAT far.

How can you say that before he leaves office?

Anyway, while they often don't get wealthy in office, most national politicians start out wealthy before they take office.  So, were these politicians to really be poor (which I doubt highly), it would be an article-worthy oddity.

I should have specified I guess there. Either they get rich out of office after a short stint in government of they become lifers and start piling up the dough and Biden has not done that.

He lives a relatively simple life compared to much of DC and I've always gotten the sense that with him it's not about the money.

.

The ridiculously large amounts of money required to run for public office these days practically insures that a lot of 1%ers are gonna get elected. More so than in the past.

That noted, being from a poor or middle class background isn't necessarily a sure sign that a potential politician will be less amenable to the corrosive and corrupting effects of big money in politics and indeed might even make them more susceptible to it.

They get $174,000 plus pension, healthcare and expenses. How is that not rich? Just wait for the kick backs from K-street and your a millionaire within a year.

This statement seriously strains credulity.  Are the really reporting/counting all their assets?
