beerrun: Brick-House: I am assuming it's going to be a closed casket ceremony or did they cheap out and just settle for the bucket?

Maybe there's a Ralph's around there.

If I saw it I would have ralphed.

bearded clamorer: Sad.
He was really excited about being promoted to branch manager, after being told all his life he wouldn't amount to mulch.

And he deserved it too.  He really threw himself into his work.

How I see things: guy was torn apart by a great white shark but the mayor saw it and had the remains taken from the water and placed in to the chipper so as not to have a negative effect on local tourism.

This was no chipping accident!

Saw the local news coverage
However it happened, the man shown on TV (i assume a co-worker) was sitting on the curb...the expression on his face was textbook "stunned"

I have a wood chipper phobia, I think. I can't look at one without squirming and taking a detour to walk far away from it. And it's simply because of occasional and mostly unlikely stories like this. Sure, it's designed to chop up wood. But the first thing you think when you see one is what would happen if a person got sucked through it. I won't go near one. I could be 50 feet away and somehow the corner of my shirt will get caught in the blades and WHIRR GRRRUMMMPPHHH CCKKCKKCKKCRRRR spew spew spew splatter, the end. I should this up with my therapist.

I inherited a 5 hp homeowner chipper, quite the uber power tool but I pretty much decided it was not worth the risk to chip stuff you have to push into it, after a couple of branches got snatched from my hands midway... luckily without catching on gloves or clothes.

I still use it, but only to turn barrels of 4" chips (that I get from guys with 100 hp chippers) into 1/2" chips for mulch.

From same relative, inherited an old table saw with no guard, splitter, or riving knife.  Pretty sure he's trying to kill me from beyond the grave.

From the pictures on the scene and the blood covering the wood chips in the truck, I can't help but wonder if he sort-of just got turned into stew.
